I think OOTP's lenght isn't a negative aspect, if I like a book I don't mind if it's lenght. Also Harry's mood is completely justified!

I like the Prisoner of Azkaban. It was dark, suspenseful and surprising. I think some of the later books are missing that. Even the "surprise" of Dumbledore's death seemed to me to be an anti-climax.

Yeah, Dumbledore's death didn't seem that climatic when I think about it. Perhaps that's because my bratty little sister told me he would die before I started the book...jerk! But it really didn't seem as important as some of the other stuff. I think it was more climatic when Sirius died than when Dumbledore was killed.

I do think so! Maybe Sirius's death was more unexpected than Dumbledore's ones.

why does everyone like the prisoner of askaban so much. Im all for the HBP That was actually my favorite too. My reason is probably different from everyone else's...that's where my harry potter venture ended I'll begin the 4th one soon- I just wish I hadn't seen the movie

I think you'll enjoy it even if you've seen the movie - it's a big book so there are lots of interesting details they weren't able to include in the movie.

Usually, it is whatever HP book I am currently rereading, but I think overall it is POA, so that's what I voted for. I really like the change from the first two. It was also important because it told us the backstory of Harry's dad, Snape, etc - I think that is one part that the movie shouldn't have left out so much.

That's why I stopped seeing the movies after the third one. I got less impressed with them as time went on. It just seemed like they were leaving out important stuff.

I think that the 3rd Harry Potter movie was very different from the 3rd book and even if it was well done, I didn't like it.

By the time the third movie was out, I couldn't remember lots about the book although I know there were lots of little details and stuff missing. One part in the movie that I loved, despite my not remembering it in the book was when Hermione punched Malfoy. Did that happen in the book? Because I don't remember reading it...

The punch did happen, as far as I can remember.

It was a slap in the book, which seemed more appropriate and in-character (well, for an out-of-character moment, that is!) to me. But oh well - films will be films!

I know that I didn't like that in the third movie, Hagrid's house moved locations. The whole landscaped seemed to change for the third movie. Again, I can't remember what the book said, by my sister said the third movie's landscape was more like what was mentioned in the book, but I still didn't like the change. I didn't like the change of Dumbledores either, but what can you do when people die.

I agree. I didn't expect that the location would be so different from other movies and I didn't like that change. The change of Dumbledore wasn't unexpected but I liked the "first" Dumbledore more.

i thought that the prisoner of askaban was interesting because harry finally found a family member that he could talk to about his parents. i thought it was really sweet how sirius wanted harry to live with him!
