For any US book-clubbers, please consider checking out this easy online petition/call to action to Congress. www.climatecrisis.net/It only takes a minute, and don't worry - you do not start receiving millions of emails from Al Gore. I get one every few months. I hope this post isn't annoying - I'm sorry that link is only relevant to US users, but here's a link to the take action page of the climate crisis website where everyone can find more ways to take action: www.climatecrisis.net/takeaction/

It's not annoying at all, I'm very concerned about climate change and if I was a US member I would be very interested I will check out the other link you posted too. It seems to me that so much of America's politicians have built their wealth and status on oil money that nothing will ever be done about global warming. It's the same here, all the current government thinks about is the economy. In our next election I will be voting for the Greens, which is the environmental and social justice focused politcal party in Australia.

Here in Norway all the politicians fussed so much about global warming when we didn't get snow for Christmas, but now when the snow has arrived it's all forgotten, no one cares anymore.

Our current government wanted to cancel Canada's ratification of the Kyoto Protocol but when they found out that it would surely cost them the next election, they decided to backtrack a little bit. But I still won't feel safe as long as they're in power.

I'm very concerned about global warming, it's a big problem. I don't think people are very interested in climate changing here and don't want to do something to reduce it. Most of people don't care the fact that it doesn't snow anymore here,or it snows very rarely; they say that it's better because snow is a problem, makes streets wet,..etc, so it is considered and faced as a natural catastrophe. Until 15 years ago the weather used to be snowy during the whole winter. At same time, everyone complains about very sultry weather we have had during the last summers.

Well, I´m worried. I mean, I don´t get how anyone couldn´t be after the weather we´ve been having.

it's becoming a more prominent issue in the media here, but the main political parties are completely ignoring it and undermining it. The weather seems to have been crazy all over the world in the last year, I don't understand how they can just do nothing.

Has anyone here seen An Inconvenient Truth? It's pretty popular in the US, but I'm not sure about other places...
It's incredibly eye-opening, and extremely important to watch. I recommend it if it's available. It came out on DVD here in November.

I haven't watched it, but I really want to. I don't known if it's popular here just because I haven't heard much about it.

I have the DVD requested from the library and should get it shortly. Has anyone seen Day After Tomorrow? I know it's Hollywood and very much a work of fiction, but I think it's somewhat scary because what if that actually happened? I think people don't really care about global warming because they don't think there's anything they can do to stop it. But there is...less aerosol cans and using public transportation or even walking to lessen the pollution. I admit I don't know much about it, but when I get the Inconvenient Truth from the library I hope I learn some stuff.

i as well am worried. it's annoying because i have this econ teacher who is a staunch repub. and says that the earth goes through these shifts of warmth and cooling temperatures. he really irks me because he has to put his opinion on everything, so obviously i don't buy it. But he is such a jerk.

He's not the only one, trust me. A lot of people are using that excuse so I was curious to see how it would be explained in Al Gore's documentary and I thought they explained it very well.

The movie, and the book, go into huge detail about the science behind it, but there's some information on the website: www.climatecrisis.net/thescience/Also on that site is a "take action" link which has a lot of helpful information about ways individuals can help make a difference.

I saw An Inconvenient Truth at the theatre and loved it, despite how scary it was!
I haven't seen The Day After Tomorrow, but I think we have it on dvd around here somewhere...
