You make excellent points about Draco sagedautumn, as always, and thanks for your wishes mate. No doubt the mirror will come back somehow but my goodness it frustrated me that Haz didn't think to use it earlier in OOTP - so much would/could have been different. There's another thing for the poor kid to feel guilty about. His life sucks. It really does. We're obsessed with novels about a young man with the worst life imaginable!

that's what makes me want Harry to die. I know it sounds mean but can you really imagine a boy or even a man take that much tragedy and come out if physically alright, psychologically intact??? Probably not. I honestly can't imagine a man who has gone through so much in his life sit back and relax after his quest his over. Think about Frodo in LOTR... he went through so much, survived through the depths of hell, and managed to destroy the ring, but he was unable to go back to the quiet and playful life he once had. He makes his decision and departs with Gandalf... In my opinion, even though it'll probably crush millions of fans including me it seems to be the best bet for Harry as a character. He has to die after he kills Voldemort, because in its core HP is a story of morality and Good vs. Evil. We don't have to wonder if Voldy is defeated but how and if Harry will survive

I don't want Harry to die and I don't think he will because that is too cliche of an ending (unless she does it in a very new, creative, nonsacrificial way). I think Harry can survive and be psychologically alright - he's already been through a lot and he's still sane. What's one more book? I also think it's different from Frodo because (and I'm going off the movies because I've never read the books) the ring is what made him change. I guess that Harry still carries a burden - you know the whole must kill voldemort thing - but it's different than LOTR. Just my thoughts.
I also think the Malfoy is going to stay a coward. I'm not sure what will happen, but I don't think he can become "good." It's not like he's a good kid gone astry - we've never seen even a glimmer of something good/nice in him. I don't think he's going to change.

I tried to tell Harry he had the two-way mirror...but he didn't hear me.. It's true neh, Harry's life really sucks. At the end of HBP my first thought was something like:"wow, he has a terrible life".

Okay, I was re-reading Harry Potter and here are somethings that caught my interest. In the beginning of Order of the Phoenix we find out that Dudley has a gang and was hitting a little boy named Mark (i think) Evans. Later on we find out that Lily Potter's maiden name was actually Lily Evans. Coincidence??? Actually, JK said that was just a coincidence.

I have a question about portkeys. When it was first explained at the beginning of GOF, they said that it was a way to travel at a predestined time. Going to the world cup, they all held on and then had to wait. But in the maze, it just happens whenever it is touched. Was this ever explained (I'm still working on GOF)? It's not a big thing, I was just curious.

I think, i'm not sure, but it is the person who makes the portkey to settle what time they want the portkey to move... I know that the Ministry had set up designated portkeys and then in Book 5 Dumbledore set up a portkey as well for the Weasley Kids and Harry to take to Grimmauld Place when Arthur was hurt. Voldemort probably activated the portkey by saying whoever touches it first comes. If I remember clearly, the Weasleys and harry did not get the same portkey that they got when entering the Quidditch Grounds, the old boot. I don't know if that helps!!

So you think that it doesn't have to be at a specified time? Like the cup was just supposed to go whenever it was touched, not at say 6pm. It just seemed to contradict the original description.

Not to get caught up on something so small, but also, why would the cup be a portkey back to the maze, too? Wouldn't it just be made one way?

I don't think he's going to change. I definitely agree with you about Harry. I really hope he lives, and I believe that he will. Sure he's been though a LOT, but he is such a powerful wizard. I don't think we've seen even close to the amount of personal strength and power that he has. I also believe that Ron and Hermione will live as well - and I don't think life is going to be so bad for Harry once Voldemort is defeated, he's officially a grown up wizard and can now live his life any way he chooses, and he has his best friends. After growing up in a cupboard, I think life on his own after things settle down will be fine. I could see him becoming a teacher, and then headmaster, at Hogwarts.
