Excitement indeed!!! Actually, i was reading OOTP last night and something that seemed relatively important popped into my head... but by golly, i can't think what it was... *ponders* But one question i do have, and it's hardly important, it's just a random theory i concoted... does anyody think that perhaps Sirius was homosexual? I know that his love and loyalty towards James can be nothing more than firm friendship and that's absolutely fine, but it was just there was a throwaway line in the flashback of Snape's Worst Memory, where it said that Sirius was entirely ignoring girls who were admiring his looks, and it just made me wonder, that's all. Like i said, it doesn't matter either way, i just thought it would an interesting revelation - especially if combined with a very cool theory i heard a few years back where the 'that dreaful boy' as referenced by Petunia in OOTP when she let slip about the Dementors, was in fact Sirius and not James, and she harboured a major thing for him which he denied and thus a good deal of her hatred towards the wizarding world was formed. Perhaps!

I'm excited just because I'll at least know the released date of italian edition... I've heard it'll probably come out on Christmas. MeanwhileI'm going to re-read COS in August, POA in September,.. I don't think Sirius was homosexual, he's loyal towards Lily and Lupin too, I think he felt a kind of brother of James, maybe just because when he broke with his family he took refuge with the Potters, and he acts as he was a kind of father to Harry. Interesting theory about Petunia! I'm going to not read this thread until HP7 will come out here...it'll be hard..I want to stay away from spoilers this time ;D

You know, I'd never given it much thought but it crossed my mind when I saw the last HP movie, just something about how the character was being played... I kinda like that Petunia theory! 5 more days!!!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! 5 More Days! I am going to pee in my pants!!! I don't think that Sirius was homosexual although all joking aside I did have to stop and think because it may be a plausible idea... I think Sirius was just immature to think about girls yet. If you remember he would almost get ticked off whenever Lily was around because James would divert all his attention on to her. I always imagined that boy in Junior High School who was always just unattainable and always just out of reach. A boy who hasn't been able to discover his potential. I don't know, but I agree I did find it odd that he had no one even after all those years outside of school... Maybe there was Petunia!! I think Lu is correct in stating that when Sirius cut off all ties with his family James and the rest of the Potters became the blood that he cast off.

Yes, you're right Sage. Regardless of whether my theory has any weight or not, i wholly believe that Sirius' love for James was very much like that of a brother. I just let my mind wander the other night and there the idea was, forming - just like you say Jefie, something about Gary's performance put it into my head, not that he performs it 'camp' or anything - he's great! Hang on guys - isn't it less than 4 more days??? But then, if everyone gets it on the 21st... oh, i'm going to confuse myself again!

Exactly, he's such a great actor that I doubt he'd play it this way unless he was instructed to do it by the director so it got me thinking...

Did you guys here that the entire book was leaked online? It's been removed following a subpoena from the publishers. Why do people want to ruin things?

I'm really scared for spoilers - I'm trying to be very careful what sites I go to.
I also like how Barnes and Noble (from what I'm remembering from the last book signing) directs you out the door immediately after purchasing it - and they hand you your copy at the register. This way, no crazy spoilsport can buy their copy, flip to the end, and quickly scan and yell out the ending to people who are still in line to get theirs.
I'm so excited to read it, and so excited that we get to be a part of such an important literary occasion! People will be reading these books for hundreds of years, but WE get to be a part of it as it happened!

Yep, it sure is a thrill to realise that we actually get to live a phenomenon as it occurs - unlike the Beatles or the original Star Wars films which were events most of us missed, we get to be here, right now, for this occurance and that's just dam COOL! Speaking of spoilers, in terms of online policy, fansites such as Mugglenet opt to never show anything prior to a release simply because there's always the good chance that whatever is 'leaked' is fake anyway - and when they do show something, the text needs to be highlighted in order to bed read, so you make the choice whether or not you wish to have a peek. But as far as person to person goes, that's always dangerous - i was spoiled with OOTP's ending by someone yelling it out at school and a mate telling me suddenly and withoutb warning over the phone. That's just evil, to do that to people. BOO! But hurray for DH being only a few short sleeps away!

Yes, I heard part of the book at least had been published on the net. These days I'm really tip-toeing around most Web sites that have anything to do with HP, I'm so scared of reading something that's going to ruin the surprise!
I think what I'll do is I'll create a new thread for HP7, so that way people who don't get to read the book right away will know for sure not to read that new thread. This thread here will remain open and I trust everybody not to post any spoilers.
It's so true that we are incredibly lucky to be part of an unprecedented literary phenomenon - I was in a bookstore today and that's what I was thinking about looking at all the HP decorations set up everywhere: there has never been an event quite like this one in the world of books, it's so exciting!

I'm getting very excited!! Just think - by this time next week, most of us will know what happens in the end to Harry Potter! I have a little dilemma though. My roommate's sister is coming into town this weekend and they want to go up to Lake Tahoe for the weekend. We wouldn't leave until Saturday morning, so I could still get the book at midnight, but I'm not sure if I should skip the trip to read it or try to read while on the trip. I want to go, but I want to read. Decisions, decisions...

I suppose that it's always possible to read it on the trip, if it's difficult to excuse yourself from going. I mean, it could just be your 'holiday' book for the weekend. I think that on this coming weekend especially, there should be worldwide automatic empathy when it comes to allowing friends and family to drop anything and everything and read Harry! That's what methinks! Sadly, it's not the case for me as i have to attend a 21st in Sydney on Sat night (we get it that morning, which works out to be about the same time as the U.S and U.K. release times) Good idea for a seperate book 7 thread Jefie; i promise that if i frequent this thread after having read the book, or while reading it, i shan't say anything spoil-worthy *hand over heart* coz that's just not cricket (my goodness it's been a while since i've heard someone say that....)
