They are really expensive, I don't know if I'd manage to pay for my uni if I would live there! Mine is costing about 1000 euro every year, it doesn't include texts, which I have to buy by myself.

Hey Kristie, this alaskan cruise sounds wonderful! I've been on a Nile cruise in Egypt ten years ago and it was soooo nice.
Wow you guys, you all pay so much money for your studies. I pay 1500 euros a year for university. In the Netherlands every univesity costs the same amount of money. This obviously doens't include books and excursions etc.

In Norway all uni's are free, except if you choose a private school, but there are very few of them, and they aren't better than the others either. But like you florence we have to pay for books and excursions and stuff. Still it's cheaper though. We pay lots of taxes instead...

1500 euros a year (or free) sounds so nice...I'm going to be paying off student loans for the rest of my life. I think I made a mistake choosing the most expensive public law school in the country. I'd much rather pay higher taxes and have better education fees (and health insurance and every other benefit that is lacking in our country).

Unbelievable that the tution fees for University differ so much from one country to the other. Sounds like a topic for 'how do you do it in your counry". But memccart, if your law school is so expensive, isn't it better than others?

I agree with you memccart, about the higher taxes and better education fees. I would much rather have that here in the US.

I think private universities are more expensive than 1000euros a year, I don't know exactly how much they cost but surely too much for my finances! I'd like to pay more taxes and have uni free and better public services. People use to complain about taxes here, want to pay less and want perfect public services...that's impossible in real world!

Private universities are very expensive here. Even the really prestigious public schools are expensive. The school I attend, if I stayed on campus, would cost me about $14,000 (that's about 10,500 euros) a year (that's two semesters room/board and the classes minus book fees). And my school isn't even a great school. It's public, but it is pretty well known as a school for education majors in the state.

But memccart, if your law school is so expensive, isn't it better than others? That's what they tell me to justify my tuition...

I know this a little bump (2 years haha), but I liked reading this topic so I wanted to reply. ;D 1. I'm also a chocolate & coffee addict like almost everyone here. I prefer my chocolate white and my coffee black. XD Everyday I start my day with coffee. I'm not exactly a morning person (far from) so I need my coffee. 2. My zodiac sign is Capricorn and their characteristics pretty much match with mine. 3. The Shawshank Redemption is one of the best movies I've ever seen. 4. I love playing videogames (mostly RPG's) since I was little. I was a tomboy in my younger years. I still have guyfriends, but I'm a lot more girly then I was a couple of years ago. I still play World of Warcraft though. xD Pretty nerdy I know, but I'm not addicted. 5. I'm in love with my best friend. I really hate it because he doesn't like me back. He loves me like a friend.. so that sucks. Even though his actions sometimes says otherwise. Have never been in a serious relationship before. 6. I'm gonna study Cultural Herritage (Museology) next year. I'm really looking forward to it. 7. I'm a list-maker. My room is most of the time very clean, but my desk can sometimes be a mess. I'm very punctual and hate it when people are late for no good reason (some people I know have the tedency to be 30 minutes late and that really ruins my mood). 8. I'm always up for playing boardgames. 9. Clowns creep me out, seriously. When I was little and saw one during circus with a chainsaw I cried my eyes out. I still find them creepy and I've been avoiding watching It for many years. I hate needles too. 10. I have 2 dogs. I used to have guinea pigs too, but they all died. One was 8 years old. That's really old for a guinea pig.

I never noticed this topic even though I looked through all of them. 1. I'm 15 but I enjoy things that most 5 year olds don't. I don't really know anybody that loves reading, nobody likes going to school, etc. 2. My birthday is also on Earth Day. I was also born the day a president died. 3. If I start a book, I have to finish it or else I'll be disappointed in myself. 4. (I love playing videogames (mostly RPG's) since I was little. I was a tomboy in my younger years. I still have guyfriends, but I'm a lot more girly then I was a couple of years ago. I still play World of Warcraft though. xD Pretty nerdy I know, but I'm not addicted.) I wanted to keep this here because I always loved those games too iris. I also played god of war, diablo, and other stuff like that. 5. (I'm in love with my best friend. I really hate it because he doesn't like me back. He loves me like a friend.. so that sucks. Even though his actions sometimes says otherwise. Have never been in a serious relationship before.) Sorry I'm keeping all your comments here. I'm sort of in the same situation but not completely. I like one of my friends but he doesn't know. People have told us that it seems like we're dating sometimes. 6. I used to think the idea of watching Gilmore Girls was crazy and that I'd never watch it. I actually saw parts of the series finale before the rest of the show and I remembered everything that happened. Now, I'm in love with the show. 7. (I'm a list-maker. My room is most of the time very clean, but my desk can sometimes be a mess. I'm very punctual and hate it when people are late for no good reason (some people I know have the tendency to be 30 minutes late and that really ruins my mood).) I'm like that too. And if I'm with my dad, it's guaranteed that we're early because he likes to leave the house a half hour earlier than he needs to. 8. I go through random phases that barely last a week, if they even last that long. 9. I love the Saw movies a lot. It's my favorite gory movie series. My most watched Saw movie is Saw 4 (When I first saw it I didn't even know that Scott Patterson was in it. I didn't even notice until about the third time I saw it. ) 10. I grew up in a trailer. I lived in one for ten years of my life before my parents bought an actual house. And I actually miss the trailer. I had more space there. My closet had 2 doors because it took up a whole wall and my room was bigger. I also got a bathroom all to myself which I don't anymore.

Well, I thought I'd join in with my 10 1. I don't drink coffee or alcohol, because I just don't like the taste. I've tried all sorts of alcoholical drinks, but I don't like any of them. I'm kind of curious though, about how much I could drink before I'd get drunk. 2. I like to draw, and I have a lot of unfinished works, but I also have a bunch of finished works of which I'm really proud. Lately I've been drawing on the computer, and sometimes I'm amazed at what I can do! 3. I'm kind of a lazy student. All through high school I didn't start working on a paper till the last week before it had to be finished. I also didn't start studying for a test till 2 days before. But I always did my small homework assignments though. And I studied really hard on my exams, cos I felt like they mattered more. 4. I'd like to be able to write creatively. I went to study journalism because I imagined I could write great stories. But now I'm just not pleased enough with my writing skills. 5. I don't like talking to people on the phone. As a journalist you have to call people a lot, so I've sort of made my peace with it. But I still don't call people just to chat. 6. I'm not really good at small talk. I never know what to say! 7. I like to pile things up. Like papers I got from classes with information on them, or instructions or whatever. I'll just pile them up instead of throwing them away . Once a year I do a big clean up though. 8. I'd like to travel more, but I'm too scared to do something by myself. 9. I almost can't remember what it was like to be without the internet. I got my email adress when I was... 12, and it took me a while to truly appreciate the internet. And now I don't think I could live without! 10. I like to buy shoes. I also buy shoes a lot! I don't know why, but when I see a pair that I like, and they are comfortable, i just want to buy them!

6. I'm not really good at small talk. I never know what to say! I'm like that as well! Sometimes I almost wonder if I have some sort of social disorder, because everyone else seems to be able to come up with stuff to talk about. I wish I could take a course or read a book or something... My attempts of small talk often sound scarily much like an interrrogation...

I can actually talk to people now more easily than before. But I'm still not good at it. I need to take a course for it too. My school actually does have a public speaking class that can be taken. But my schedule is too full to take it.
