I use to love V.C Andrews. The Flower's in the Attic series are good....but now it's a pen writer and the books are so horrible. Oh and repetative...Girl has a problem, Girl meets boy, Girl gets out of the problem. You forgot...girl is in poverty...finds long lost reative.... becomes a millionaire... some sort of insest... I think eveyone liked these books it was so "Grown-up" to read them it was a scandle....at least in my family anyways ;D ;D

The chick-lit I read every now and then, like Olivia Goldsmith books.

I absolutely loved the Anne of Green Gables series when I was younger....and now I would say Anne Rice, the Mayfair Witch series. I've read them all several times over.
I tend towards horror when I'm looking for something fun with no substance.

I actually wouldn't mind reading some Anne Rice, I haven't read any of her stuff before. Which book do you think is good to start with?

I've only read Lestat the Vampire but I thought that was a pretty good novel so I'd go with that one. Oh, and I just asked my hubby because he's read quite a few of the vampire series and he also says Lestat is the best one.

I love (embarrassingly enough) Bergdorf Blondes by Plum Sykes which is extreme chick lit. I even bought it brand new in hardcover.

It doesn't have the most complex plot, but it's a good, light read. I actually read it after a couple of more serious books just to rest my brain.

The Facts and Fictions of Mina Pratt and The Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basile E. Frankwhiler (the name is all wrong...but that was as close as I can remember). Those books are both for really young kids (I read them when I was 5 I think) but I still love them.

Did anyone else love the Babysitters Club books? I did. I signed up for this thing in 5th grade where every month I got 4 books. I ended up with only the first 28 though because I couldn't keep up and them all and so my mom stopped the subscription. Lol!! I've read those books too!!! They were my mom's... Just love them!!!

There aren't too many books I'm ashamed of liking, but maybe books by Janette Oke...? They are extremely light-read and have the same type of plot as in the Flowers in the Attic series I think. Sounds like that anyways....

I used to read a lot of Babysitter's Club too, but I'm sure I couldn't stand to read them now. I bought them up into the 50s and I even read some of the Special Editions. I used to be a sucker for series. I read dozens of the Sweet Valley Twins, High and Kids series and the Sleepover Friends series. When I outgrew those I moved onto V.C. Andrews. Dawn was the first series I read, and even though it was by the ghostwriter I liked it, although the books were new to me at the time so I didn't realize how repetitive they would become.
