I'm a little past halfway in Life of Pi by Yann Martel. I can't put this book down, but I keep on thinking to myself over and over: "What an incredibly weird story!" This book has been on my TBR pile for ages, and I hope that when I'm done I won't be disappointed. I don't think you'll be disappointed, if you're like me you'll probably want to read it again... you'll see why! You were right! I ended up loving it! Although it was weird, the story was really well-told and it definitely made me think - my favourite type of book!

I've had Life of Pi on my bookshelf for the longest time. I need to finally read it. Haha.
I'm almost finished with The Gun Seller. I paused it for a week to read another book and then kept going. I thought it slow and uninteresting to me in the first part but when the second part came around I got more into it. I like it now. I'm ready to finally finish it though just so I know what happens and to start another.

I'm about 550 pages into The Passage by Justin Cronin and I'm loving it. I've still got about 200 pages to go but once I pick it up it's difficult to put it back down so I'm sure they'll fly by. I really recommend this one.

It's sort of a bit hard to explain, it's a vampire novel, but the vampires are done very differently to other books and are not called vampires most of the time but virals or smokes. The first ones are made from death row inmates in a government experiment attempting to reverse the effects of ageing. The ones the first ones bite are kind of more animal like than the vampires in other books, they can't talk and are just driven on instinct with occassional memories of who they were. Anyway just before the first vampires/prison innmates break out of the military facility and cause an apocalypse the government does the experiment on a little girl but she doesn't turn into a vampire, so it seems she is probably immortal. Then the book shifts to the post-apocalyptic future in a small, contained colony that attempts to protect its population from the virals. This section makes up the bulk of the book. I hope that makes sense It's a difficult book to explain. And while the military stuff sounds a bit lame (I thought it did before I read it) it's written really well and the story telling makes it not just another disaster/vampire/apocalypse/dystopia book. I have 100 pages left to go now.

I'm about halfway through Dracula by Bram Stoker now, and it is really exciting. Whenever I pick it up, it's really hard to put down again. Unfortunately, I have a lot to do for uni (exams are coming up), so I can't read as much as I'd like to. What I especially like about the book, is that it it's written in the form of diary entries or letters. This way you get such a detailed insight in the character's feelings and thoughts!

I'm currently reading The Disappeared by Kim Echlin. I love the story but hate the way it's written. I hope that makes sense. Okay, there's pretty much only two characters of importance in the story thus far, and the one that is narrating in first person is directing the story at the other character. I find it really annoying to read! I mean, they experienced it with you, so shouldn't you direct the story at a third character or the reader? Unless it turns out the second character has amnesia and that's why the story is directed at him, I don't think this style was a good choice. (And even then, perhaps that should be explained towards the beginning. I almost put the book down for good, but decided to sort of ignore the style to finish the story, which I'm interested in)
Does this make sense? Has anyone else ever read a book where the writing style was horrible but the story was good?

I never heard of that book, it sounds confusing... I can't think of any in particular but I'm sure I read a book just because the story was good and I wanted to know the ending.

I'm reading L`étranger by Albert Camus at the moment and am about halfway through the book. I can't really say what it is with the story, but it's just kind of weird. The way it is told by the main character and what's happening, I think it's somehow really depressing. On the other hand it's really easy to read and I'm excited to find out what will happen next, but I can't say yet if I like it or not.
