I don't really like R&J as a couple to be honest, as much as I love the play itself. There's no love there, just lust!
And I can't believe no one's said this, but Darcy and Elizabeth. I love the way she's so witty and talkative and he just steps back and takes it all in, but he's firm in his conviction. I think they're a perfect match.
And this one's really random but I love Tonks and Lupin from Harry Potter. The other Potter pairings I could take or leave but I love the two of them together.
And there are other "couples" in books that I like one half of, but not the other. Like, in Twilight I love Jacob but not Bella, and not together. And in Gone With the Wind, Rhett is the best character in the novel, but Scarlett gives me migraines (as do Ashley and Melanie. Gag me.)

Can you really not remember his name or is that an eradication joke?
(It's Landen Park-Laine)

To second the three couples mentioned by Zelda; Anne and Gil, Ron and Hermy, Thurs and Land. And Halie i also love Lupin and Tonks; my second fav HP couple.
And to those i add Jane Eyre and Mr R. Catherine Morland and Henry Tilney Clare and Henry from The Time Traveller's Wife Michael and Julia from An Equal Music James and Helen from A Certain Slant of Light (in a non-romantic sense) Henry and Eliza in Pygmalion (because no one else "got" them) Heathcliffe and Cathy
And just to be naughty and say one i should give up on: Jo March and Laurie!!!!

I second Gilbert and Anne! And to stick with the Anne's, I have to say Anne and Captain Wentworth as well. I just love them. Oooh, and Ronja and Birk from Ronja the Robber's Daughter, even thought they're not technically a couple in the book, but we all know it will happen.

Can you really not remember his name or is that an eradication joke? (It's Landen Park-Laine) ;D My favorites are Thursday and Landen, Darcy and Elizabeth, Eowyn and Faramir (The Lord of the Rings), Dr. Clifton and Margaret (The Thirteenth Tale), Nat and Daisy (Little men and Jo's Boys) and Flynn and Shani (Weekend by Christopher Pike). The first couple that came to mind is Darcy and Elizabeth. Another favorite of mine is John Thorton an dMargaret Hale from North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell. I haven't read North and South yet, but I'm sure I'll agree with you. ;D They look great together, in the BBC adaption.

And just to be naughty and say one i should give up on: Jo March and Laurie!!!! lol, I'm with you on that one! I love Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy, and I also love their modern equivalent as Bridget Jones and Mark Darcy. I also think Heathcliff and Cathy are one of the most interesting couples in the history of literature, just like George and Martha from "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf".
