What are some of your favorite fantasy novels?
I love Harry Potter! I also read Magyk, by Angie Sage and i'm interested in that series. My aunt also introducted me to the Terry Brooks' series A Magic Kingdon of Landover. I read the first two and they were very interesting, and comical.

I really enjoyed Harry Potter, but I can't think of any other fantasy books I've read to tell the truth. Maybe I need to explore this genre more lol.

I´m a fantasy softie, I really like Harry Potter but I hate Lord of the rings and I don´t think Eragon will be my case either. But I love the Thursday Next novels.

I did not like LOTR, it's not something for me. I didn't even like the movies.

Aside from HP I like fairy tale retellings for adults quite a bit. I've even written a few myself! Mercedes Lackey's Elemental Masters series retells them wonderfully (The Fire Rose is one of my favorite versions of Beauty and the Beast). I also like Robin McKinley, Patricia McKillup and a few others. I've always had a soft spot for these stories from my youth and some elements of them are really not for children! I also love Juliet Marillier.

Fantasy is not that kind of genre I like. I liked Harry Potter, but I can't think of any other fantasy novels I may be interested in. I know lots of people here in Germany like Eragon and Lord of the Rings ... and those books are high up on the bestseller lists, but I don't understand what they like about it. So I prefer to sit down and read the Bell Jar again .

as most of the others have mentioned, i love harry potter but i can't really think of any other fantasy books i've read. i liked ella enchanted which is another sort of cinderella for those who didn't already know that. i also liked briar rose by jane yolen which was a version of sleeping beauty with WWII jews involved. it was a little odd, but i liked it. other than retellings of fairy tales and harry potter i don't really read other fantasy novels.

I'm not a big fan of fantasy novels either. I love Harry Potter, and I also really enjoyed The Hobbit (but hated LOTR). I've always wanted to read The Mists of Avalon but never have, that's a fantasy novel, right?

well im gonna be the oddball on the wall and not say that i love harry potter. lol. ive actually never even read a harry potter book. i just got this stubborn bone in my body and was like im not gonna start reading these books because of the fact that i dont want to just read them because they are popular. prolly the stupidest thing ever but oh well. but fantasy novels ive enjoyed....i really liked the hobbit and i love the abhorsen triology (sabriel, lirael, abhorsen). shade's children was also pretty good. the his dark materials series is good too (the golden compass, ect). i havent read eragon yet but i plan to.

I was exactly like that with the Harry Potter stuff I hated the drama and everything but then I wanted to read something easy that didn´t require thinking because I had exhausted myself mentally with Milton and so I read Harry Potter 1-5 in like 2 weeks. They´re great but I still can´t understand the hype.
