I like hardbacks, but they're so expensive that I usually get paperback so I can get more books. Although I can't resist a hard back if it's on sale.

i like paperbacks, but the soft paperbacks, and medium sized, I don't like the teeny tiny ones, they're too hard to read.

I love trade paperbacks because they are cheap and I can abuse them without feeling guilty.

I always want my books to stay nice and in one piece.. without any scratches on it.. and that is kind of impossible.. so i should get hardcover books, but I usually buy paperback, because they're easier to get here.. plus cheaper:)

Depends really. Hardcover looks a lot nicer but paperbacks are so much more convenient, money and size wise.

Like everyone else, i think there are good sides about both options. Most of my books are paperback and that is more convenient and comfy when lying down to read, but hardbacks do looks so much more spiffy and don't run the risk of creasing. So i'd like a nice balance of both i think.

Trade paperbacks are my favorite. I'm a huge klutz and I've spilled liquids on more than a handful of my books, thankfully not on library books though. When something happens to a hardback, I feel really guilty (yes, I'm also a spine-bender). And the print on mass markets tend to be smaller and harder for me to read.

Paperbacks annoy me when they get that crease. But hardbacks are more expensive. I do like hardbacks more though, they look more "classic".

I always buy Hardcover if I can find one. Sometimes I can't and then I'll just get the softcovers but it really is better for me to get hardcover books. I've had my Pride and Prejudice book for like 8 years and it looks soooo bad after being read so many times but my hard cover Sense and Sensibility bought the same year looks perfect.
