Which do you prefer Hardcover or Paperback (Mass paperback, or trade paperback)? I prefer hardcover and trade Paperback. I think they look better on my bookshelves, plus in the online bookclubs I get hardcover cheaper. I'll get Mass paperback if I don't have a lot of money.

I prefer paperbacks and mostly buy mass. I carry them around with me, stuff them in my bags where they get squashed. So my books look pretty used. But when I find beautiful hardcovers used or on sale I can´t resist and put them on my special shelf . Trade paperbacks look great, too.

I would love to have everything in hardcover because it would stay nicer longer, but obviously that gets pricey. I typically buy the really long books, like the Harry Potter series, in hardcover because if a book's really long and it's paperback it can get broken really easy.
I don't really know what the difference is between the different types of paperbacks, to be honest. Are the trade paperbacks the harder paperback type that are usually the same size as the hardcover? Sorry, I'm inept in technical terms...

yes they are...they usually come out before the mass paperback. Mass paperback are the ones that are usually only 10 dollars or less.

okay, well then i like the trade paperbacks more because they're more sturdier and cheaper than the expensive hardcover books

i like paperback just cause it's easier to carry and i like the worn look it gets from carrying it around. i think it shows i'm a true reader. though there's some books by certain authors or a series that i can't wait for paperback so i get hardback though i don't like having one in paper back and the rest in hardback if it's a series. i know i'm weird

Oh i'm the same way...I need the same series in the same type of book.
I'm very specific with my books...they can't get bent, or hurt in anyway.. I can't write in them, and i can't highlight in them. i love my books too much! lol

I stick to paperback when buying. They're cheaper and easier to carry. As for trade versus mass market size, I prefer mass market, but sometimes there's not really a choice. When I borrow a book (like from a friend or the library) I'm not picky though

hardcover books look nice, but they're often akward to read or carry around in a handbag. For that reason I prefer paperbacks.

I usually don't buy hardbacks of books I've never read. That doesn't make much sense, buying the books I've already read and know I love and will read again in hardback, but if I end up not liking it, I hate that I spent so much money on it.

I prefer trade paperbacks and hardcover. They're more sturdy.

I usually get paperbacks because they are easily to carry or easier to hold while laying down . But I still sometimes get hardcover at the library when they don't have paperback, or I buy hardcover if there classic books I like. I like trade paperback if its a longer book but usually I don't care which type they are.

I try to avoid paperbacks because as careful as I am, I still manage to bend the covers. However, hardcovers don't fit in my pocket very well.
