Saw the film (finally!) and really liked it - James McAvoy's best work to date, i reckon, and IMO that's saying something! (i'd go so far as to say that in a fair world, it would be Oscar-worTHY) Have (finally) purchased the book, and am slowly making my way through it (in my defense, i'm juggling two others aswell) Dom told me the prose was beautiful, and i agree wholeheartedly. Plus, i have to say i am finding Briony not *quite* as dislikable, having greater insight into her thoughts and feelings.

I saw the movie today, and it was a huge disappointment. They left out way too many important details.

I thought the movie was okay. Had I not read the book I probably would've liked the movie a lot more. I was disappointed that they didn't show more of the stuff that happened to Robbie during the war. I thought it spoke volumes of his character and made me love him even more. I HATED the ending! But i thought that they carried out the pivotal events very well

I thought they made Briony seem creepy and disturbed. The war scenes were left out. I felt that only the key moments were left in, and all the details left out. Near the end Briony feels guilty, and we don't really see the extent of her guilt. Briony's character really changes at the end, and in the movie I didn't really see this. When she was talking to the soldier, it was really confusing if you didn't read the book. You don't really understand that she doesn't know him. The movie was okay, but not what I expected.

Have you guys seen the ads where they have New Republic "Apologize" playing? It seems so out of place. Although I guess the main lyrics fit.
