Okay, so this thread can be just about the book too. But I was curious about who thinks Harry should be killed in the end or alive, so I made it a poll.

I voted whatever JK wants, because while it would be good if he didn't die, I don't want it to be a cheesy happy ending really either. As long as it's written well I don't mind too much.

I also think that it should go as JK wants. I mean, it would be okay if she killed him because then no idiot could write other author sequels. But I do like Harry and wouldn't want him to die, but like you said, Dom, I don't want it to be cheesy. But just think of if she killed Harry. In the Sorcerer's Stone Voldemort was "dead" so couldn't Harry just be "dead"? Just something I was thinking about earlier...

I don't know it's all a bit confusing. Maybe when harry finally defeats him it will kill him too because of their weird connection.

yeah, that could be a possibility. my sister asked if i thought that if JK killed harry, she could write some more books about ron or hermione? think it's possible? i don't think that'll happen

I'm not sure. She has enough money to last her a lifetime. I think the only way it would happen would be if, after finishing Harry, after a while she misses him and writing. I remember hearing something she said in an interview which was something like how he's become a part of her over all these years of writing about him.

I trust in JK to make it an interesting ending. Imagine if she let everyone down and it completely ruined the whole series. I doubt she'd do that! I can't wait to read it..but then again it'll be over, no more looking forward to the next Harry Potter

I put my opinion on this in the HP thread, but while i would personally like to see the poor kid die (in a nice way!) so that he can be at peace, and i also echo Dom's point about wishing to avoid a cheesy victory ending, i trust Jo and she can do as wishes. She's had this ending planned since the story's inception in 1990, so she's gotta know, after all these years allowing to tweak and change it, that it's the right conclusion for her story.

well as jk has said in some interviews, even inf harry doesn't die, she isn't going to write more books later on. she wants to start a new series. and also she said that if she ended up writing another book, it would be like a dictionary on every character she never got to expand on, such as neville, and especially his parents. it would be interesting if she actually did that.

I agree. I'd love to see "Hogwarts; a history' published, as she did with "Fantastic Beasts" and "Quidditch Through the Ages"

I really like that idea, I'd love to read Hogwarts: A History!
I think it's going to be hard for her to come up with another series after HP. People will inevitably compare the two, and might be disappointed and overly critical if they think it's not as good.

and what kind of stuff would she write? more fantasy. i agree though that reading on the more undeveloped characters would be awesome.

I have to agree with whoever said that having him live happily ever after comes off as lame. I just can't picture it.

I votes the third option, too. She´s done a great job so far but I hope it´s not too melodramatic. Spin-oofs would be interesting and I think it´d be very difficult for her to publish anything other than HP stuff under her name. Other works would never live up to people´s expectations. What does everyone think of the title? Just found out about it in the paper.

This is the same thing I wrote in the "That Potter Lad" thread:
Ever notice how the majority of the time, the title is "something OF something"? Like Chamber OF Secrets, Prisoner OF Azkaban, Goblet OF Fire, Order OF the Phoenix. That's 4 of the 6 so far, so maybe that's why the others sound a bit off???
