You both have cute stockings! Here's mine - the one I have here. My stocking at my parents house is much cuter, my mom made it.

They're all so nice! Christmas stockings are not part of our Holiday traditions So how does it work? You hang it there at the beginning of December and your family fills it during the month?

No they get filled on Christmas Eve at the same time that presents are put under the tree. I actually get 3 stockings now (at my apartment, my parents house, and Ben's parents). I usually get a lot of candy and then a bunch of little, cheap gifts. That also is where people like to put gift cards or other small gifts like jewelry. I also get practical things - I'm hoping for windshield wiper blades again this year. My parents have these two huge stockings (probably 3 feet tall) that they bought when they were first married. They limited their gifts to anything they could fit in them, but I don't think it really worked on saving money. There is a really cute picture of my inside one when I was a baby.

Our stocking traditions are similar to what Michelle and Kristie described. We usually do a mix of fun stuff and practical stuff. It's a good place to stick odds and ends. For my dad's stocking I always get him a ton of Tic Tacs, since he eats them all the time. I also get fun stuff for them - this year they are both getting a Dwight Head stress head (from The Office TV show). Also, when I was younger and would wake up so much earlier than my parents on Christmas morning, I would always be allowed to open my stocking first while waiting for everyone to wake up.

Same here Isa, they aren't a part of our Christmas tradition.

Haha, if I had a dog, I'd give them treats and chew toys and stuff like that in his/her stocking.
Bookaddict, I really like your and Daniel's stockings. Nick has his stocking at home and it's knitted, too. My grandma made mine.

we don't have stocking either.. but now I'm wondering.. what does gatsby get in his stocking? Gatsby gets toys. Actually, he gets the same pack of toys that has his favorite kinds of ball in it every year. He doesn't use any of the other 5 toys in the pack, just the one ball but I haven't found them separately yet. But he broke my favorite bowl today, so he might get coal this year. Are there any other traditions that all of you do that you could share instead of stockings?
