Right before I read it, I looked into it a bit. I had no idea that it was written so long ago (1950!) or that the author was Swedish. She actually invented Pippi just as a bedtime story for her daughters, and years later she decided to write them down. With Pippi she created a new era for girls in literature, at least that's what they teach us here in Scandinavia, because Pippi was so strong, and independent and all that. If you want to read more Lindgren I'd recommend Ronja - the Robber's Daughter! And I just finished Out of Africa.

I recently finished New Moon by Stephanie Meyer. I was really excited to read it because I loved Twilight so much and I had heard how New Moon was even more exciting. And it's not that I was dissapointed because I wasn't. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I found the second book slighly frustrating how she was so love-sick ALL THE TIME. What did everyone else think?

I loved New Moon, I just wanted things to happen faster then they did. I did like Twilight better.

I agree with you Demiral it got frustrating not to mention annoying to hear her longing for Edward over and over again...I kind of wish she would move on OR at least try to make an effort to move on

I was thinking of giving the series of unfortunate events series a go but I wasn't sure if it was just a children's book or if adults also like it?

I was thinking of giving the series of unfortunate events series a go but I wasn't sure if it was just a children's book or if adults also like it? Well I'm an adult and I like it... Does that answer your question? Try the first book (they're really quick to read) and if you like it good, and if you don't, well you've wasted a few hours of your life! ;D

I finished Snow Flower and the Secret Fan like two hours ago... There have been very little books that have made my cry like that towards the ending... A definite must read.

finished yesterday suite française by irene nemirovsky: in the end i liked it especially her way of describing people and also how she described this difficult historical period but i have to say it was a difficult read and in the end it left me with the feeling that it was incomplete (i know there is nothing to do about it because this work is incomplete but still i don't like this feeling)...and for the rest i guess it could have used more editing and revision but unfortunately she didn't got the chance!
i really would have liked to read the whole work and i think that in the future i'll try to read something else written by her!
bookaddict i think you've read it as well, what did you think?

I was thinking of giving the series of unfortunate events series a go but I wasn't sure if it was just a children's book or if adults also like it? It's definetly a series that I think adults or children (perhaps even adults more so) can enjoy. I read three of them, and while they were captivating and not bad stories, I always found something unsettling about them at a deeper level. But I generally over analyse things, so you should give them a go.
