I´m pro because women need to have a choice especially on this topic. And I think that at three month there is the not yet a baby but only the possibility of life. It´s like women joining the military, not everyone actually choses to do so but nearly all want to have the option.

I definitely agree, women need to have the choice. Especially in the US (I don't know what this is like in other countries) where sex education in schools is absolutely terrible. Most schools do not give any information besides abstinence only, and parents don't talk to their kids.
Before we can have hopes of abortion not being necessary we need to drastically improve sex ed. Parents need to TALK to their kids, especially mothers and daughters. Many daughters don't realize that their mom WILL most likely know exactly how the daughter feels when thinking about when to have sex - all women go through that.
Also, in my school we had no sexual education past grade 6, and that gives you a long time to forget a lot of information before high school- when you're most likely to start thinking about having sex.
This is such a heated debate in the US, and it's usually best to not discuss (or only with people you're close to and know you can agree to disagree). I just wish the pro-life people in government would realize before you start putting restrictions on abortion you MUST start working to improve sexual education dramatically.

I'm also pro choice and I agree with you, zeldafitsgerald, I think schools should definitely take a more active role when it comes to sex ed. Most kids are too shy to talk to their parents about it (I know I wouldn't do it) so they learn from friends who have learned from friends who don't know what they're talking about. A better sexual education would prevent so many unwanted pregnancies! Just the other day in Quebec there was a 16-year-old girl who gave birth to a baby in her bathroom, ran to the nearest park to drop it there and rushed back home to clean up the mess, leaving the baby to die in the woods. That's just horrible!

We had sex ed until grade 7 so it´s not much better but we were definitely told more than abstinence. No banana stuff but most of the theory. I didn´t talk to my parents about it because that´s just too weird and I think books and tv and things like that worked pretty well for me. How some kids really have no idea is a bit of a mystery to me.

I'm also prochoice. I don't think it's right to keep that right from mothers. Sexual education in the US really does suck. And think of the problems if you outlawed abortion. How much would the government then spend on welfare for the mothers who can't support their families. I know abortions can get pricey, but having a child would within a few years catch up with that price. Okay, I was reading an opinion column in my school paper yesterday about partial birth abortions. And I really don't think that that is right. It's after the 3 month normal abortion, when the baby is about 5-6 months old. Doctors partially deliver the baby and enter something into the back of it's head and literally suck the brains out. At this time, babies can feel. I don't like this kind of abortion, but the kind before the baby is actually humanlike is alright. And remember: Pro-choice does NOT mean Anti-life.

i chose "I would never have one, but don't judge" I chose that one because I have a great boyfriend and we plan to get married when we're financially stable. Also, becauase we both have supportive families who would never leave us fending for ourselves in a hard situation. Our families would help us get on our feet, and help us get through. I do understand that other people have different situations, and for that reason I would not judge them.

i talked with my boyfriend about this once and we thought if we got pregnant we would keep it. it'd be difficult to tell our other children after we're married that we made a mistake and they do have another brother/sister somewhere that we couldn't keep. i don't think i would have one either, unless i was raped and really didn't want that reminder...i'm not one to judge either.

I would never have an abortion myself, I am in a stable relationship now, but even if it ended I wouldn't have one. I think it's very difficult to conclusively say when a baby counts as a human and a lot of that stuff doesn't really ring true to me.
But despite that I'm still pro choice, to abolish abortion would not stop it, there would just be more dangerous backyard abortions again and that would risk two lives.
People in certain circumstances just aren't ready to have children, and sometimes the children would be better off. You just have to look at some of the cases in the paper to know that. The other week a woman gave birth to a baby and left it in her garage to die, and a two year old died of severe head injuries, organ failure and had had various other suspicious injuries throughout his short life.

I know this is a serious topic, but when you mentioned a woman giving birth to a baby and leaving it in the garage to die reminded me of the beginning of the perfume

Aside from situations where the concern is the health of the pregnant woman, there's just so many other options out there, I don't see any reason for abortion.
Even if I was in a situation where being pregnant or giving birth would possibly kill me and/or the baby, I would still do it. It's in God's hands not mine.

like it's just 9 months of your life to save theirs, and then if you didn't want it you could give it up for adoption to one of the billions of couples out there who want to adopt.

If I were to get pregnant now I would probably freak out but I would keep it. But if I had gotten pregnant 10 years ago I would have had an abortion. I know that giving it up for adoption is an option for some people, and I admire those who can do it, but I can't imagine going through a pregnancy while still being in school, and then giving the baby away. I think I would have gone mad knowing my child's somewhere out there...
And when I look at the way a lot children are treated, I can't help but think it would have been better if they had never been born. It's crazy to think that you need a license to drive, but any dumbass can have a kid.
