Personally, I hate it. But I tend to furiously write in the ones our school hands out whenever we have discussions and what-not. I am OCD when it comes to my own books. Who else hates that annoying crease you get on paperback binding of a long book? I know! I hate that crease to! And the way the cover curls up, it's so annoying. I'm very obsessive with my books too, never write on them, or bend the corners of the pages, that sort of stuff.

Yeah that's horrible.. I also get upset when they accidentally fall and then they bend a little, it breaks my heart lol, I'm really fond of my books, that's also why I hate lending them to people who mistreat them

Jups, I agree, and even those tiny folds on the cover, on the corners.. I hate those.... or when you get these weird smudged spots on your book when it's been in your bag.. (from pen/pencil or whatever) I want all my books to stay nice and clean..

this is going to sound crazy, but I was once so afraid of bending a cover on a book in my bookbag that i wrapped the book in bubble wrap. it worked! no dirt or folded pages! if i carry a book with me, is constantly on my mind, i worry if I move a certain way the book will get ruined. I have this book cover to carry my books in. It zippers all around and I have a beagle iron on patch on the front. I use it to put my books in when I put them in my purse. Mine is all black, and I have a beagle on the front. It works great. This is the picture of the beagle:

That book cover is awesome! I need something like that. I always have to carry my book around because I just know if I put it in my backpack it will somehow get folded...terrible stuff.

We such book dorks.... haha. Speaking of lending out books! I have a friend that loves to read but I hate lending her books because I give hers back right away in like perfect condition and I had just bought the 4th Sisterhood book and she wanted to borrow it. It took her like a million months to read and when I got it back the dust jacket wasn't as pretty anymore.... and now I have the same problem with HP 7! It's been like 3 months!
I feel like such a loser asking for the book back too.... especially since I mentioned it before...

I can't stand it. I don't really mind if some of my books get a little banged up. Of course there are some books that I would like to keep in pristine shape. I don't think I'll ever be able to write in my Harry Potter books, or any with a hard cover. But as far as paperbacks go, if they look like they've been read and carried around a lot I think it looks good Sometimes I like to buy used books just because of that.

I greatest thing about new library books is that htye look pretty and they have some protection so they stay pretty longer! I would like to get library bound books all of the time because they seem less delicate.
I like owning classics that look used. They are classic books so I think they should look well-loved!

wow.. a bookcover/case! I've never thought of that! and I've actually never seen one actually,... except maybe for the bible ones... we are a bunch of book dorks annak.. I'm not putting persuasion in my bag again, since it has a black cover and it has now some white spots where the ink came of when it was in my bag.. so... haha I'm only ok with putting library books in my bag, becasue they aren't mine and they have that protection thingy around them...

When I was in AP English a couple of years ago, I was constantly making notes in the margins. Then for a while, I stopped, but have taken to doing it again. I don't like to write in hardcovers either- only paperbacks, and usually ones that I've read multiple times.

I bought a second-hand copy of "A Separate Peace" and it was full of notes written in the margins, which didn't really bother me. Then at some point, there was one that said "foreshadows Phineas's death" - I was sooooo mad!
