Hi bookworms, I just found out that Jennifer Crusie is writing a new book about gilmore girls. It comes out in spring. Here is the original message what is posted on her website under 'coming out soon' : "The hardcover reissue of Manhunting is scheduled to come out just in time for Valentine's Day. Jenny's next non-fiction book, Coffee at Luke's: An Unauthorized Gilmore Girls Gabfest, is due out in the spring." Found this at jennycrusie.com/What do you think about Jennifer Crusie writing a gilmore book? And what do you like more: Gilmore girls on tv, or a book about gilmoregirls.

I didn't know there were any Gilmore Girls books. They can't be that great if they're not very popular.

I don't know how it is in your country, but in Europe they have books written with based on an episode of gilmore girls. They are not that popular, but I can buy these books in the supermarket... But anyway, I will deffinitly go read this book because Jennifer Crusie is my favourite writer.

I'm not sure I'd be interested in a book about Gilmore Girls... I don't know. Here's the description I found on Amazon:
The quirky world of Stars Hollow and the incredible relationship of the Gilmore Girls—mother Lorelai and daughter Rory are best friends—continues to engage viewers after seven seasons, with its lightning-fast dialogue, dry wit, and unusual take on family relations. In this satirical yet sensitive collection of essays, leading writers weigh in on how this unique show has successfully broken the teenage-sitcom mold and gained viewers of all ages. Addressing questions such as What are the risks of having your mother be your best friend? How is Gilmore Girls anti-family, at least in the traditional sense? and What’s a male viewer to do when he finds both mother and daughter attractive? this anthology also looks at how the characters are shaped by the pop culture they consume and how prevalent a feeling of class consciousness is within the series.
While looking it up on Amazon I saw that there were quite a few Gilmore Girls books out there. They seem to have Rory as a first person narrator and the targeted age group is 9-12 years old.

That's right about that the target is 9-12 years, because the books lay just next to the lizzie McGuire books...

Yeah I've read a couple of these. Basically each book covers a span of 6-8 episodes of a season and sort of says what happend in each episode character and plot wise in a very simplistic fashion. They are ok to read through but definately not anywhere near thought provoking. They are fun to read if you haven't watched any of the episodes in a long time. Like said above the target range is the "tween" age group. I'm curious to see how and what this new author writes about Gilmore Girls.

Oh wow!!!! I definitely did not know this!!! I've never read any Gilmore Girls books, but I am a big Jennifer Crusie fan, I've read almost all of her books. I love her books, she has a great voice and the stories are all interesting and very funny. It will be very interesting to read this and see what it's like.

I'm sure I don't want to read one of those books. I prefer watching it. It wouldn't be the same somehow!? Most times books are better than the movies, but with the Gilmores it's different, I think. Just read one chapter from season one and I didn't like it at all.

I don't even know who Jennifer Crusie is, is she a chick lit writer? Sort of.....she's a crossover romance writer. She has some great books: -Fast Women -Welcome to Tempation -Faking It I don't really read chick lit anymore. I have nothing against it, but since I've expanded the genres and types of books I read, I've discovered too many books that leave me with the "wow. this is a work of art. i was incredibly moved by reading this" feeling after. Since my TBR list is so long, I just don't want to take time away from reading amazing books to read guilty pleasures. Does that make sense? But Jennifer Crusie was one of the first authors I ever started reading and liking (adult authors, not YA), and her books are well written and funny, so I still read all of her new ones.

Ah, I see now. I've never really liked books like that. They used to write some for the Canadian show, Road to Avonlea, but I couldn't get into the books like I could with the show.

I love the books of Jennifer Crusie too. The last book I've read is Fast Woman, and that is a very special book because there's a romance in it but also a detective kind of part. But I do like it anyway.I read chicklit and other books, and i like them both.
