We're doing a classic next time. I'll start with:
Wuthering Heights, by Emily Brontë The Trial, by Franz Kafka Death comes for the archbishop, by Willa Cather All Quiet on the Western Front, by Erich Maria Remarque The Vicar of Wakefield, by Oliver Goldsmith Winesburg, Ohio, by Sherwood Anderson

I'd love to read The Trial by Kafka or All Quiet on the Western Front! But I was also thinking about:
The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck Dead Souls by Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare The Idiot by Fyodor Dostoevsky
But I think that Wuthering Heights could be great, too - despite the fact that I read it a few weeks ago - I think it could be very interesting discussion about it.

Tortilla Flat by John Steinbeck Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton Franny and Zooey by J.D. Salinger The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (or Tom Sawyer) by Mark Twain
I'll be the first to express my displeasure about Wuthering Heights...I just finished reading it. To be frank and immature. EW.

I like the suggestion of Ethan Frome, it's nice and short. Wuthering Heights would be good, I think there's a lot to discuss there and it's one of my faves. I would recommend against The Trial, it becomes really tedious and full of beaurocracy and hard to read. I don't know a lot about these:
Death comes for the archbishop, by Willa Cather All Quiet on the Western Front, by Erich Maria Remarque The Vicar of Wakefield, by Oliver Goldsmith Winesburg, Ohio, by Sherwood Anderson
But they sound interesting.
Suggestions I'd like to add: The Portrait of a Lady by Henry James North and South by Elizabeth Glaskell Tess of the d'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy and I've already read Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh but I think you guys would enjoy it

Oh, I can't wait to do a classic because they're so much easier to get a hold of then some of the other books we've read!
Franny and Zooey The Portrait of a Lady North and South Brideshead Revisited
...all sound good (plus I already own half of them).
I'd also like to read (I don't know which of these we've read pre-me):
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert The Awakening by Kate Chopin (I especially want to read this one!!)

I just read it, but I think you all would like The Awakening. And it's nice and short.
I'd also like to read Edith Wharton so Ethan Frome would be good.
