Writing For Story, by Jon Franklin. This book is about nonfiction creative writing, but it is incredibly interesting and has some good ideas about forming stories.

Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott has incredibly helpful advice for getting started writing. Reading Like a Writer by Francine Prose is excellent too - helps anyone who loves reading or wants to write start to read with the purpose of seeing what makes good writing actually good - what it's composed of and how it's done.
