I started reading another book yesterday, making it the fourth book I was reading at the same time.
I have since finished another book, so now I'm only reading three at once but I am wondering. How many books do you read at the same time?
I understand why people may want to only read one book, but it is hard for me because I'll get bored too easily. At leas with several books you can be reading constantly and not get bored!

I like to change book too, if I get bored. Sometimes if the book is really long I stop and read some short book and then continue with the long one. Two or three books is good amount. I usually picked very different kind of books so I good skip between them depending on my mood. But now I haven't got so much time to read so I read only one book at a time, it takes me so long to finish one.

I prefer to read one book at a time, but sometimes I'll read two or three at once - like if I'm ahead of the book club discussion I might start a second novel, or sometimes when I'm reading a book in Spanish I'll also read a book in English when I'm too tired to concentrate...

I usually read two at once. I keep one in the car for when I am waiting for my husband to get off work and one at home for when I am there that way I don't have to carry them around!

Same. If I'm reading a book in French sometimes I just need a break. Or if I'm reading something really heavy, like a classic. Usually I don't read any more than three at a time, though. I like to focus on each book I read, because I know I'll enjoy them more that way.

I am reading three right now and I read that because, like you said neveralone, this way I keep reading and I don't get too bored.

The most i've ever tried is 3 at once, but it just didnt work out - even 2 at the same time ends badly, with being either ignored or forgotten, and therefore one of them needs to be re-read from scratch! I like the idea of keeping two in case you need a change of pace etc. but i just don't seem to have the right mindset! Rory could do at least 4 at once..... how i envy that! I can sometimes juggle two if one is nonfiction; it's the only time my poor little mind can manage!

I usually read two books, generally I keep one book at home and I carry the other in my bag. I rarely read a book in English when I'm not at home because I need to have a dictionary within reach, in case I run into a word I can't understand. Sometimes books are just too heavy to be carried around.
Now I'm reading three books, one English, a borrowed one (it's old and I don't want to ruin it) and A tree grows in Brooklyn.

Not counting in work-related stuff I prefer reading one book at a a time. If I read several at once it's usually because I am too bored with what I am reading.

At the most ive read 3 books at once but I prefer reading one at a time. Its easier to keep track of what is going on in the books.

I usually read two books at the same time, one "normal" which I bring with me wherever, and one Christian one (like theology or something in that direction), which I usually spend much more time reading, because it tend to be heavy stuff and let's be honest, sometimes boring so I can never read a lot at one time. Right now I'm actually reading three books though, since my Ken Kesey book also turned to make be bored easily, so I need a fun distraction:)

I am a one-book-at-a-time gal. The only exception is when I have to read a textbook or something for school. If I'm not interested in it enough to read all the way through like a normal book, I'll read the minimum amount and then go back to my book. I can't handle more than a book at a time.

I almost never read more than a book at a time... I just can't juggle them, there is never a balance between the two and I prefer being immersed in a single story.

I usually have to read something for school, and then I read one book for pleasure and then I usually have an audio book on my mp3 player for times when I can't physically read (like when I'm walking).
