"Satori in Paris" by Jack Kerouac, it's excellent, much better than "On the Road" IMO

I started I am the Messenger by Markus Zusak. Ooh, I want to hear about that one too, let us know what you think when you're done! I finished it already because it was so amazing. It´s funny and caring without being too cliché and the postmodern twist at the end was genius! Now I´m reading How to be alone by Jonathan Franzen.

Thanks for letting me know, dorothy! "Satori in Paris" by Jack Kerouac, it's excellent, much better than "On the Road" IMO Didn't you like On the road, Isa? I did like "On the Road", but I found it rather difficult to read and all the talk about sex & drugs sometimes put me off. "Satori in Paris" reads very easily and it's quite funny, it feels like I'm having a beer with a slightly drunk Kerouac who's telling me all about his adventures in France

Sometimes it is really too much. I also got confused with the locations and used to think that my imaginary car wasn't fast enough to follow him. Maybe I should try Satori in Paris then. He seems to stay in ONE city there.

To the lighthouse by Virginia Woolfe. I'm not sure what I think of it. Nothing happens, and I'm really confused a lot of the times. But I also like how (when I can follow who it is about) she descibes exactly how someone is feeling. But yeah, mostly I have no idea what is going on . I actually thought they were already at the lighthouse, but then I read that the dad says they can't go to the lighthouse tomorrow, and I was certain it was the next day already!

I know what you mean Carma! I read and liked To The Lighthouse, but I found it confusing at some parts, and I had to reread them twice (and I didn't even read it in English!). I don't know if it's only because I got used to her style of writing but I think the story gets less confusing.

"The Story of My Life" by Helen Keller. The chapter about her love of books and how they have enhanced her life is very Rory.
