I am so excited about finding this site. I love to read and I love the Gilmore girls so this is great. I am going to try to read everything on Rory list, and i was wondering which book should i start with?

I think my first books from the list were The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, The Kite Runner and The Secret Life of Bees, I think they're all a good start! (Not too heavy). From the classics I think The Bell Jar or The Great Gatsby would be a good start too, although I read them later.
Welcome to the board!

I think you should start with those books from the list belonging to your favorite genre(s) of literature. If you're a fan of historical fiction for example, then you might want to start with reading Devil in the White City or Seabiscuit. But if you like reading fiction in general, then I can also recommend all of those books already recommended to you. Personally though, I started with reading Life of Pi by Yann Martel. There are truly so many great books listed that I think whichever book you choose to start reading first, you'll be satisfied that you chose to read that particular book. Happy reading!

It's so hard to choose, I know! I find I do better by having 3 or 5 books started at the same time. That way, as my mood changes, there's always a book to pick up.

thanks I was also wondering if you start reading a book (let's say a classic, that everyone loves) but you are just not into it, do you stop reading the book, or push through to the end.

If I really can't get into it, I usually stop and put it aside. Then when I pick it up weeks or even months later when I seem to be in the right mood for it, I sometimes end up really enjoying the novel!

I always try to finish what I start.. and sometimes it just takes me a bit longer than usual.. but when I'm really not in the mood, I'll just put it away for a while.. and maybe one day i'll pick it up again

That's what's happening to me. I've put aside Anna Karenina for a couple of months, but with every intention of picking it up again. I just don't know when. *shrugs*
