One of the first book lists I ever found was the Modern Library's list of 100 Greatest English Language Novels. www.randomhouse.com/modernlibrary/100bestnovels.htmlThe reader's list is posted there too, but I've heard the list is jaded because the polls were flooded with cultists voting multiple times (hence any rand in the top two spots.) I like the rival list by Radcliff, it has a much stronger presence of women authors. www.randomhouse.com/modernlibrary/100rivallist.htmlHere is a really cool link to a NYT page that lists the original Modern Library choices, and provides, when available, a link to the original review in the New York Times from when the book was first published. Very interesting! www.nytimes.com/library/books/072098best-novels-list.htmlHere's how many I've read (not a lot, but there are many on each of the lists that I want to read): Modern Library: 8 Radcliff: 14 Reader's: 8
