Kristie mentioned that she's reading a novel written by one of her professors. I was just wondering if other people have been taught by professors who have published works of fiction?

Rumor has it that my transnational law professor wrote a science fiction book that he published himself (guess that means its not that good).
I think all my other professors have only written casebooks, treatises, and law review articles.

As far as I know, only two of my professors have published works of fiction: Nigel Thomas and Neil Bissoondath.

Mine have only written textbooks and articles. I think my creative writing teachers have been published, one has a collection of poetry and the other has been published in magazines. I can't remember the one with the book's name though...

Same here, a bunch of textbooks (which seems a bit underhanded to me- to assign a book on which the prof gets royalties!).

Yeah, my Lit teacher Theresa Williams has published a book, but is more proud of her short stories that have been published in various magazines. She won some award for a story from some Ohio thing and got $10,000 for it. I have only checked the book out, haven't started reading it yet, but I intend to soon.

I am a science major so none of my professors are writing novels per se. My biology teacher revealed to us the other day that he is an accomplished writer and has written two books on citrus fruit... By the way he is obsessed with plants, soil, and avocados. Ask him a question about any of these topics and he will talk for hours about them.
NO JOKE!!!!

We always had that with the geografics teacher who could go one and one about her holidays in other country's. If we didn't want to have a 'normal' class, we would start about some country that she's been to.

Yea, we had presentations in class and one kid was talking about Genetic fingerprinting and how it helped to solve many cases like the O.J Simpson case and the Prof goes" SOOOOOO.... How can this be used for plants??" We were all like ummm...okay genetic fingerprinting and Plants don't exactly go hand in hand. Then he kept interrupting our presentations and talking about plants even though the topics had nothing to do with them. It is SO surreal!
