I've noticed a few people have read this and i was thinking we could start a thread and talk about what everyone thought of it. I've been debating on whether to read it or not.

it's by mary mccarthy and it's the story of eight young women, after their graduation from Vassar between 1930-40.
I've just started it but so far i like it, it's a very satirical and provocative book...it must have been a great shock when it came out.

I think it must have been so, juliet.
I've read The Group last year, I have to admit I expected it to be different but I finally pretty liked it. I enjoyed the way the book tells each of the eight women's doings and experiences.

I'm reading The Group right now, and I like it a lot so far. But, here's the thing, at around page 130 or something there's talk about this news article where Kay's husband has been arrested because of a demonstration. And the newsarticle mentions that Dorothy Parker and Alexander Woolcott were there as well, and I was just wondering if the author used a real situation or invented it with them there, if you understand what I mean...?

That would be really cool, I mean if she really did. That would be really cool! Hanna how did you like her other memoir book?? The reviews on Amazon are pretty scathing. They said she told lies to help her story sell better...

Is that Memoirs of a Catholic Girlhood? So crazy if she did! And kinda sad too, as if she didn't feel her memoirs were good enough...I think I'm going to read it anyway and just be really critical, read it like fiction, you know?
