I just finished The Well of Lost plots, and I really liked it. I'm excited to read Something Rotten, but I can't start it right away because I've got a few other library books I need to read first.

I've read The Eyre Affair, and I have to say that while I liked it ok and I thought the ideas behind it were good something about his writing style didn't appeal to me. It just didn't seem to be the kind of style I like, it didn't fit my idea of what good writing is in a technical sense. I thought the premise behind the book was really interesting but felt there was more potential there than what was reached I guess. Also Thursday reminded me a lot of the detective V. Warshaw (sp?) books like Double Indemnity somehow. I guess I'm alone in this opinion though But I did think the idea behind the book was fantastic. I enjoyed it more towards the end when the Eyre stuff came more into play.

I do have to say that the endings tend to be better than the beginnings probably because they are a little more action packed.

I think the series gets better with every book because more of the action takes place in the book world.

I think the series gets better with every book because more of the action takes place in the book world. I agree. I love all of them so far - but I think The Well of Lost Plots is my favorite because it takes place entirely in the book world. It's so cool.

Mine, too and for exactly the same reasons. It´s so fun how the characters from great books suddenly step out and investigate in the book world. I love the waiting for Godot joke

So far (I haven't read First Among Sequels yet) my favorite is The Well of Lost Plots, for the same reasons as zelda and dorothy. I really like this serie and I can't wait to read the next book.

I can't wait to read more in the series, especially if the book world becomes more and more prevelant. I couldnt understand Thursday's initial desires to leave LitraTec for another vocation/area but a friend assured me that by the end of Eyre, she has changed her mind. Good, coz i thought she was crazy ham and cheese, wanting to leave a world in which books are the air you breathe!!!

I've got " Lost in a Good Book" and "The Well of Lost Plots" at home (found them at a secondhand bookstore), is it a problem if I haven't read "The Eyre Affair" beforehand, will I enjoy the series just as much if I start with the second novel?

I think it's ok. I had a four year break between the first and second and I couldn't remember much. I think you'll be fine.
