Some news about the movie version of Marley & me:
The film Marley & Me has just locked its two main leads. According to Variety, Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston will pair up for the theatrical adaptation of John Grogan's best selling memoir.
The book told the story of the mischievous Labrador retriever Marley, who was adopted by Philadelphia Inquirer columnist Grogan and his wife. They had gotten the dog as a tester for parenthood, but the rambunctious pooch proved to be a handful. The dog tore the house apart, got kicked out of obedience school, and started to misbehave when the baby arrived. Yet, despite all of the dog's problems, she became an indispensable member of the family.
David Frankelis directing the script by Scott Frank. The film is set to go before the camera early next year for a 2009 release date.

I bought this book a while ago but still haven't read it - I should move it up to the top of my TBR pile!

Perhaps I would have liked it better if there wasn't so much hype surrounding it. I guess I had my expectations set too high, but I really was expecting something more impactful (maybe the bittersweetness to be more potent). Nevertheless, this book still made me cry really badly, especially the last part.

this book reminded me so much of my dog. i thought she was the only nut case of a dog that existed. it made me laugh, cry , and everything in between. i guess you really have to love dogs to actually like it otherwise its probably just a boring read
