It all depends on the book and the plot. If it's amazing and doesn't drag, long can be fun. And sometimes short ones can be just as powerful. I guess ideally I'd have to go with medium length! Not so short that you feel it's over right when you're getting into it, but not so long that it takes forever to read.

I think 300-400 pages with normal font is good. I like short books to boost my esteem, but long ones can do that to because I'm so proud of getting through it. I guess it depends on my mood.

I agree with memccart. I like a nice balance, but sometimes it's very satisfying to get through a large volume. It's the sort of thing you can point to with pride and claim "I read that" (just in my case, i'd leave out how long it actually took to do so!) Other times of course, like on a holiday, it's equally satisfying to sit for an hour or two and complete a novel in that time (I find Nick Sparks is a great holiday read.. corny yes, but short and sweet)

I think it totally depends on whether I like the book or not. If I love it, it just cannot be long enough. Nevertheless, a lot of short books are just fine the way they are and shouldn't be any longer because it would ruin them. But let's face it: long books which should be shorter are much worse than short books that could be a bit longer.

I don't mind a long book, it really depends. Although often shorter books will squeeze their way up higher in my tbr list because I know that I will be able to read more books if I read the shorter ones.

haha, I don't really read a lot of short books actually... I prefer a medium book, but when I have to choose from a short one and a long one.. I usually go for the long one..

I think most books on my list are medium or long. But sometimes it takes me longer to read a short book than a long one, it really does depend on how I like it.

As most of the others said, I like a balance. When I read a lot of short books, it makes me feel like I'm just trying to boost my numbers. But, sometimes books are really powerful, even if they are short. I like a longer book, 300-400 pages, most of the time. As long as it's interesting the whole way through, I wouldn't care how long a book is

I'm a fan of medium sized books. However, some of my favorite books are super long like Anna Karenina and Moby (I don't think I can use that word on the board). I think it has to be a really amazing book for me to stick with it for more than 500 pages. I'm only human.

As others of you, I like medium sized book (300-400 pages it's ok). I really don't mind reading long books and short ones are good when I don't have much time to read or I've just finished a very long book ...I think it only depends from my mood, but I've mostly read long and medium ones.

Yea, the 300-400ish range is good although a lot of some of my favorite books are big. Gone With the Wind is about a 1000 in extremely small font. Still if a book is blah!! I tend to skip pages or just ditch the book in entirely
