Good to know, Hanna. It's good so far, and I usually like Dostoevskij. Hope you like Slaughterhouse 5, it's one of my favourites.

Last night I started reading "The Lost Memoirs of Jane Austen" by Syrie James, I thought it'd be a nice way to get in the mood for the Jane Austen Society AGM at the end of the month.

I'm reading the Communist Manifesto for my Core Humanities class and then parts of the Bible for my other CH class. I'm sadly -still- working on Lolita since August. I really wish for more time to finish it.

I just finished up The Stepford Wives, and it's quite disturbed me. I think the part which really 'got' me was that the husbands were all complicit from the beginning in bringing about their wives downfalls. How could they not be? Especially Joanna's husband, who had to have been lying to her face the entire time and feigning affection and friendship for her - while at the same time plotting her eventual demise. It's absolutely lascivious.
The other part which bothers me is the ending, as I really wanted to know what actually happened between Joanna and Bobbi and whether or not they were murdered. My gut feeling on the matter is they were, thus my comments above, but I suppose that's open for debate. I loved the book, however, and it's a shame that Ira Levin is now gone.
PS: Is it me or does it seem that very few males come here to discuss books? Or could it be that so few men read anymore?
