I really liked The Kite Runner, it's such a good book. It was my first one from that geographical location and I found it very interesting, also sad in many points of the story but very interesting. I think Hosseini's style is great and I definitely want to read A Thousand Splendid Suns.

I liked it a lot too, but I thought a couple of things to obvious, like when it turned out that the two boys (can't remember their names right now) were brothers as well as friends. That was a little too cliche I think

I really enjoyed it, but I do remember thinking some things weren't very subtle or something. I can't remember what exactly but the same sort of thing as what you mean I guess Hanna.

I didn't really figure that out by myself, but I think it was a good plot, I loved it. My sister read A Thousand Splendid Suns too and she said it's a lot better, she gave it to me but I haven't really had the time to read it yet, so my mom is. It does look like a good book though, I think Hosseini is a very talented writer.

The Kite Runner is one of my favourite modern novels. Hosseini's writing is a bit soap-opera, but it works and I'm always dying to finish. It's also interesting looking at a totally different society.
Btw, about A Thousand Splendid Suns - I recently had the chance to read it, and I definitely thought it was a gripping albeit depressing novel, but I liked Kite Runner better because it just related to me a little more (even though Splendid Suns was about women). In Kite Runner, much of Amir's conflict is the result of his selfishness, while in Splendid Suns the main characters are mostly victims of society.

I thought the first 75% was pretty good... but, without giving away anything, the last quarter of the book kinda fell into melodrama. It was as though someone else took over the writing from Hosseini at that point.
Overall a good read, but I really would have prefered the ending to be executed in another way (though not necessarily different in terms of plot development, because I honestly can't offer a better suggestion as to how the denouement could have been changed.)

I liked it and I thought it was good, but that said I think maybe it's a little over rated. Maybe that's because I read it a bit late after everybody else and had too high expectations.

I have finished this book in dutch and I think it's amazing, one of my favourites. Khaled Hosseini is a great writer, he really captures the emotions in the moment.
