I recently finished reading Russell Brand's football book "Articles of Faith" (a collection of his football columns for the Guardian, with some added interviews and pictures).
I can't say I enjoyed it (having no interest whatsoever in football and finding Russell Brand's writing style rather contrived) but I was determined to finish it and am pleased I did. I'll take it back to the library later with some relief (and be sure to get a "proper" book out this time!)

Mengele Zoo by Gert Nygårdshaug. I think it's being translated from Norwegian to English at this time, at least I hope so, because it was very good. Provoking but in an excellent way.

Ex Libris: Confessions of a Common Reader by Anne Fadiman. It was fantastic, and I'm definitely going to read the rest of her work, especially At Large and At Small.

I've finished Minotaur by Benjamin Tammuz today and I have to say that the writing was really catching.

Ex Libris: Confessions of a Common Reader by Anne Fadiman. It was fantastic, and I'm definitely going to read the rest of her work, especially At Large and At Small. Same! I really really enjoyed it. I've been asking loads of people if they know any of those words she listed from the Carl Van Vechten book (you know "monophysite", "retromingent", "opopanax", etc.) Vocabularies have been expanded, much fun has been had. I intend to read her other works now too.

I finished The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Diaz and also Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator. I love Dahl' s works but I'm trying to go slow so that they last for a long time.
