It really is a great moment! I always run my fingers along the spines while trying to choose I always do that while in a bookstore - run my fingers along the spines! It's kind of soothing in a way. Thanks for all the replies, everyone! I just organized my TBR list and that has helped tremendously! This past week I started reading 1 book from my bookshelf and 2 from the library - all 3 are different, so no matter what mood I'm in during the week, there's always a book for me to read. I think that's what's going to work best for me. Not to have 1 book started at a time, but to have 2, 3 maybe 4 started!! It's less stressful that way - odd, I know, but it works! AND, when they're all finished, that's 4 books I can cross off my list! And I love crossing things off lists.

I usually don't choose the book I intend to read next before I've finished reading the book that I am currently reading. I have a small TBR pile on my bedside table. I also separate the books that I've already read from the books that I have yet to read by placing them on separate selves. If I've read a positive review of a book or a book has been chosen as a book club selection, then I will read that book next. But if not, then I choose which book to read at random, sometimes by closing my eyes and pointing to a book on my TBR shelf, and sometimes by choosing the first book whose cover catches my eye; these are just a few of the methods that I employ in choosing which book to read next. I also like to invent new methods for choosing which book to read next.

I read several books at a time as well -- that way, no matter what mood you're in there's always something to read! In terms of choosing what book to read next, I usually try to read books I'm borrowing from others before my own, but the biggest factor is usually what I'm in the mood to read.

I usually spend quite a lot of time in front of my bookshelf when picking my next book to read. I sit there, pick out the books that look interesting, read the backs and a page or two from it and decide from there. It can be a lengthy process! haha

haha, I know what you mean whitegold! For me, that process is even lengthier when I'm at library, because you're not allowed to borrow more than four books and it usually takes me ages to choose ONLY four among shelves full of books!
