I have to do a group presentation for my history class over the history of India's economy. We're trying to think of a clip of a movie we can show to liven up our presentation a little bit, but we're having trouble thinking of a good movie to accurately represent India. If you can think of anything, please share! Thanks! ;D

I don't know how accurately it reflects India but Bride and Prejudice is a lot of fun and it's set there, there's some Indian dancing and stuff in it.

I really liked Bride and Prejudice! What about the movie Gandhi? I watched it at school years ago and I can't remember if it accurately represents India.

The Namesake. I don't think it's out yet on dvd, but you might be able to find something online.

The Little Princess and the Secret Garden both have stuff in the beginning from India

Yes, I would say B&P too. I like Indian movies, and I have a lot of them on my to-watch-list. I'll start after my tests with the list! When is your presentation?

Haha, Bride and Prejudice is so funny. I love the Bollywood movies because they're hilarious. But I don't think they're all that accurate in representing India. The only other movie I've seen take place in India would be Gandhi, and that's old. Let me see if my friend has any recommendations (he's Indian lol)

Monsoon Wedding! I haven't watched it in a while, but I definitely think there would be a great clip for you to use.

Another one would be "A Passage to India" which was based on the book by E.M Forster. Just so you know, these movies are movies that are located in India or about India but not necessarily "Indian Movies" there is a whole other movie industry called Bollywood that makes Indian Movies which is located in Bombay (now known as Mumbai) where they use the Hindi Language and the culture, and religon. The movie Devdas was nominated for an Oscar
