Amongst the different filming locations (according to IMDB) there's the Royce Hall at UCLA, and I think that's the one, at least for the exterior shots. Rory's dorms and the classrooms are probably filmed in the same set where the town is. It can't be at Yale because they film the show in California. What I do know is that the time the Gilmores went to Yale in the 3rd. season, the location where they filmed it was Pomona College in Claremont, California.

my sister plays the carillon at Yale and said that whenever they play the bells on GG the show has to pay to play their music.
but, in response to the question, rory's room definitely looks like it was fimed on a set

I remember reading somewhere (I think it was on the IMDb message boards) that none of the filming was done at Yale, it was all done on a set or whatever. The only think that may have been real footage of Yale could be panoramic type long shots that don't have the characters in them.

Different question, but has anyone noticed that Kirk in episode 2 season 1 isn't Kirk but Mick? He's there to install DSL at Lorelai's and he introduces himself as Mick. Weird?

Kirk wasn't suppose be in Gilmore girls, but people loved Sean Gunn, so Amy wrote Kirk for him. This is how I think it went.
Off. Sorry my bad English..

Yeah, I noticed that too... first you don't notice it.. but when you watch that episode again, later, when you've seen the other episodes.. then you notice.. Isn't that weird.. I guess what you wrote sounds like a good reason Ansku

Hannamarie, I definitely noticed that Kirk was Mick. And, like you, I thought it was really weird! I'd never seen that episode on TV and only saw it when I watched the whole series on DVD.
