Have you read other books by Hesse? I liked The Glass Bead Game the best. I had never read anything by Hesse before. I mainly chose the book because I was already familiar with pieces of the story from a world religions class I took in college. I liked his writing style. Not too wordy or over descriptive. I will definately put The Glass Bead Game on my TBR list. Thanks.

currently am reading a college of magics and it better get good sometime soon. if i reach page 75 and it's not interesting enough, i'm moving on It doesn't really start getting interesting until the end. That's the bad part about those books. I just finished "The Tenth Circle" by Jodi Picoult. Not my usual choice, and I didn't really like it. But it was a quick read and that's good too.

Hesse is very popular in Germany I liked most of his books but I have to be in the mood for them. I only read two Jodi Picoult books and I didn´t like the pact. My sister keeper was really good though.

I finished reading "Native Son" by Richard Wright, it is an amazing book! It's on my favorites list now. The writing is great, the plot is interesting and intriguing. It deal with Bigger Thomas, a man who kills a white girl accidentally and then tries to cover it up by blaming a communist. It deals with all his emotions, and the fact that he lives in a suppressed society. He kills Mary Dalton accidentally but know that if he does not cover it up no one will believe him because he is black.

I just finished "Neither Here Nor There: Travels in Europe" by Bill Bryson.
This book was awesome. I've only been to Italy and France so far, and I love reading about his travels throughout all of Europe. It was fun to read about the places I've never been, and also to revisit the places I have been through his stories. He writes with a huge appreciation and love for traveling and Europe. And his stories also contain his usual humor and wit.
I definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes traveling. I'm going to re-read it before my next trip to Europe because it's also given me a good idea of what cities and countries I want to visit next.

Sounds interesting... I've never really travelled outside of Canada. I want to explore Canada more, before I go to Europe. I'm afraid of planes...

Sherlock Holmes is great, I really liked the beginning. How they met and their first case. I finished The life and times of the thunderbolt kid yesterday. It´s really an amazing book and I´ll try to read more of his works.
