Ugh. I think it's the worst idea i've heard in all the random ideas to do with HP. Sorry guys - i don't mean to be such a downer. I enjoy theme parks as much as the next person but golly gosh! There really is no need and it's so far removed from everything i love about Haz and the world Jo created.... but oh well! *shakes head and sighs* Kids will have fun with it i guess.

I think it could be very awesome if it's done right. My main concern is crowd control. I know they'll do an amazing job with the design and the "sets" but I don't want to feel like I'm at a huge theme park, being herded little cattle from point to point. I hope it's big enough for everyone to stroll through and do what they want with out seeing 2,000 people no matter where they look.
My mom had an interesting thought about it - she thinks that since they are opening this park, it means Harry won't die in the last book. She said it would be too much of a downer to go to a park featuring a dead character. I'm not as convinced that's true, but it is an interesting perspective.

I don't think the idea is one of the greatest for the Harry Potter stuff. I mean, first Florida is very different from England, so just the natural surrounding would be really weird. It sort of seems like since Warner Bros has already made billions of dollars from the movies, they're overrusing Harry. It seems like such a corporate and greedy idea. I like the whole idea of being able to see the same scenery and sets as from the movie/books, but I would rather still just imagine it and not experience it for fear of ruining my own thoughts of it.

voldy's revenge thrill ride, hermiones library of terror, dudleys candy store, harry's mysterious wild water adventure, the shrieking shack, hogwarts sightseeing tour, wizards casino,... omg, i have to stop making up names for rides and stuff... anyway. i don't like that idea either. i mean it would be fine if it were a little part of or one ride in a theme park, with other movies or shows or whatever to have their theme in it also... but an entire theme park full of harry potter? i have to admit, i haven't read the article so i'm leaning this onto the previous posts and my imagination what was in the article... sorry

i'm not particularly keen on it... but i think it depends. i do think it's a good way to memorilize the ending of Harry Potter

Zelda, that's certainly an interesting theory your mum created for the park and it's significance to Harry's fate... and it does make a great deal of sense. Jo's so secretive but i doubt she's that cruel as to give permission to the creation of a park if it's hero dies... unless she sees it as a sort of memorial! But by golly, that's morbid.... mabye she feels that either way, it wouldn't or shouldn't matter. I don't know! I'm talking nonsense... i still think the whole thing feels wrong.

I don't know, I'm kind of undecided. I would have to see the park for myself. If it's like visiting the set of the movie, than that would be cool. But, somehow incorporating roller coasters and other rides into HP seems kind of bizarre. Rollercoasters and Harry Potter = weird combination.
But I have always wanted to go to Hogwarts. So that might be interesting.. *shrugs*

Oooh, I like the way your mom thinks! Me too! I don't know what to think of HP theme park, I'm not sure it's a good idea and, as Kristie said, it seems they're overrusing Harry but I'd like to see it (I'm quite sure I will never do because it's so far..), I'm just curious to see how it looks like.

Did anyone read about how the family of the girl who was snatched from her apartment in Portugal is asking Rowling to put a bookmark with a picture of the girl in every copy of the new book? They're hoping if it goes ahead it will help attempts to find her.

No, I hadn't heard about that. Is she going to do it? I understand their idea, but I'm not sure I'd mix the case of a missing child with something as entertaining as the last HP book, do you know what I mean?

Yeah I know what you mean, it's good if it helps find the girl, but at the same time it seems a little odd or something. The article I read said that the parents had had informal discussions about it with her publisher. Rowling has already donated millions of dollars towards finding the child, which is nice of her

Not to sound uncaring, but I really hate it when this stuff happens in the news. There are plenty of 4 year old girls who go missing on vacation and it's not put on the world-wide news. I just don't like it when the news industry picks special cases when their news is slow.
And I definitely think that JK shouldn't do that. The two things are completely unrelated...
