The worst book I've ever read was Heart of Darkness. I hated it. Ben says I need to give it another try because he liked it and I read it in high school. But I can't bring myself to do it.

I liked it but I can understand why you might dislike it but I agree that you should try it again. It's not too long also so its not too big a sacrifice .

Ugh. I hated Heart of Darkness too.
I read it for school as well. But I really don't think I'd like it better if I tried it again. I feel as though I truly hated it.

I've only read The Shadow-Line by Conrad... I wouldn't say I hated it, but I certainly wasn't impressed.

I was really impressed by the fact he wrote Heart of Darkness in English when that wasn't his first language.

I hated Heart of Darkness when I first read it Junior year, but I had to read it again this year and I actually liked it. It could be because I understood it better the second time once I had analyzed it from the first time.

Maybe I will give it another try sometime. But like, zeldafitzgerald, I have a true hatred for it and I need to get over that. Also, I know it isn't long, but I remember only being assigned around 10 pages a day because it took so long to get through a little bit.

I have a hatred for "Fahrenheit451" I really dont like that book at all. I also dont like a few other books I just cant think of what they are at the moment. I can remember F451 because i just finished the book & saw the movie. They both terribly suck.
I've never read "Heart of Darkness"

Really? Wow, F451 is one of my favorite novels - if I have kids one day I'm gonna make sure they read it so they can understand the importance of books in our society.

I agree with what the book is trying to say but the content sucked! It was too bland and I'm really really into the Sci-Fi stuff. The moral was good and yes it is a good book to read to help people understand the importance of books.

I'm not a big fan of sci-fi so maybe that's what helped me appreciate the novel so much, because I couldn't compare it with other sci-fi novels?

I havent read much either. Alright this is my thinking on the book...It had good content at parts but some parts was confusing and dry. Entire book was ok but not as good as I expected. If I read it again for fun instead of for school then I might like it more because I could take my time and read when I want and how much I want. The moral behind it was a good one. Your reasoning Jefie could be true.

I really enjoyed Fahrenheit 451, I'm not into a lot of science fiction, but definately the ones about dystopic societies so in that aspect it was right up my alley. To be honest I can't really think of any parts of the book I found boring or bland or anything, so I have a totally different perspective of it I guess. If you read it for school though that could have had something to do with it. Each to his (or her) own I guess! I haven't seen the movie.

I'm not a lot into science fiction too, but I usually like novels set in dystopic societies, they have something that make me easily got into the book...can't say what. I love Fahrenheit451! It's one of my favourite novels. I saw the movie at school, about 12 years ago, and I pretty liked it. I decided to read the book because my teacher talked about it after watching the movie and it was really very interesting.
I also read Heart Of Darkness, I can't say I liked it so much but it was ok. Anyway I'm sure I wouldn't have liked it if I would have to read it for school!
