I was wondering, what is everyone favourite painting(s)? Who is everyone favourite painter(s)?
My knowledge of Art isn't good and mostly depends on what I've studied at school (and mine wasn't a great theacher ). My mother is a huge fan of the Impressionism and maybe she influnced my taste. I like the Impressionism and my favourite painter is Claude Monet, I absolutely love his paintings' style. I think that some his works, painted from different points of view and at different times of the day, are very interesting...they're sort of photos. I also like Le Bal au Moulin de la Galette by Auguste Renoir (I think it's great how he managed to paint light of the sun and shadows and I love the colours he used), Several Circles by Kandinskij and Il bacio by Francesco Hayez. What about you?

It might be an obvious pick but I've always loved The Starry Night by Van Gogh

My two favorite painters are Edvard Munch (did SO many more amazing things than the only thing he's really known for - The Scream) and Henri Matisse. I also really like Mary Cassatt. Here's my favorite Edvard Munch painting, The Sun: faculty.washington.edu/annkurth/images/sun.jpg

I have to admit that the only Munch's work I know is The Scream (and I think it's great!). I have never seen The Sun, I just have a look at the link you posted and I like that painting.

The Sun is so beautiful! Thanks for the link. I have a poster of both The Scream and The Starry Night on my wall. My other posters are of James Dean and Radiohead

Nice posters! I have a poster of the Garden at Giverny and a lot of photos on the walls. The Starry Night is great, I saw it when I was a child and my parents brought me to an exposition of Van Gogh and Gauguin, I remember it was very interesting!

I love the Impressionist too. Monet, Renoir and also Degas is among my favorites. While living in Bolivia I also got aquainted with the art of Luis Solorio, he paints a lot from the Andean world! Kandinsky is great too, and being Norwegian I have to like Munch of course, but my favorite is "Red House and Pines," don't think that's too famous though.

Aw.. I love impressionism too. And surrealism. Salvador Dali is a genius.. I kind of went on a little bit of a Dali binge. I think I looked at like 100 paintings..lol.

Wow, how many Monet's fans! I studied Pollock during Art Class at school, and I enjoyed his works, they're very interesting! I had a favourite Pollock's painting but I can't remeber what is it now

I love Michelangelo as well. I fell in love with him in Italy. The Sistine chapel was incredible, of course - but I love The David the best. I was surprised to find myself in tears when I saw it.
