"That is what Mildred Grossman had in common with Holly Golightly. They would never change because they'd been given their character too soon; which, like sudden riches, leads to a lack of proportion: the one had splurged herself into a top-heavy realist, the other a lopsided romantic." ~Breakfast at Tiffany's (p55, "Fred")
"Everybody has to feel superior to somebody. But it's customary to present a little proof before you take the privilege." ~Breakfast at Tiffany's (p59, Holly)

"A home without a cat - and a well-fed, well-petted, and properly revered cat - may be a perfect home, perhaps, but how can it prove title?"

Here are a couple from Goblet of Fire
"If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals." ~Sirius (about Crouch and Winky) p525
"Curiousity is not a sin. But we should exercise caution with our curiousity." ~Dumbledore p598

I love that quote by Sirius.
To stay on topic, here's another quote from Harry Potter serie (HP and The Chamber Of Secrets):
"It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities." - Dumbledore
When my father heard this quote at the end of 2nd HP movie, he said: "that's true, that's totally true!".

Is that just in the movie, or in the book as well?

I've checked, the quote I posted yesterday is from the book, I think in the movie is: "It is not our abilities that show what we truly are... it is our choices." I'm sorry, I've read and watch only italian versions and I just looked on the web for the english quote.

I'm always worried to confuse things While checking, I've found out that the quote in italian movie is different from the one in the book...it's interesting, I was convinced they were exactly the same.

More like a passage than a quote, but I love it:
"The light was warm and pink, and made the trees and water look soft -- it was like seeing everything through a fond memory." (Melissa Bank)

I just finished it this morning and I really enjoyed it, I'm looking forward to reading more of her stuff.
