I saw children of men yesterday. Interesting but the story was a bit lame, not enough background info and some scenes were so cliché!

I've seen that, yeah some of the story did fall flat, but I still liked it. I thought the way they shot the action scenes towards the end were really good, more point of view than trying to maximise the audiences view of big explosions, they had a handheld camera and occassionally blood and debre would get on the screen.

yeah, I really liked the music and the humor but I hated not knowing more about the whole situation. It´s supposed to be based on a novel have you read it?

Yeah it's a novel by PD James, but I haven't read it. It would be interesting though I think. I studied one of her books for a crime fiction topic in school, usually her work is crime fiction I think but children of men is obviously a different one. The one I had to study of hers was "The Skull Beneath the Skin".

I saw American Dreamz the other day, I enjoyed it a lot, much more than what I expected. I had no idea that the political jokes/plot to kill the president etc would be in it.

The beginning of the book is supposed to be really slow but I think I´ll read it sometime. Haven´t read her other novels. I´m more of a British crime fan.

I never really got into crime fiction that much, I liked "The real Inspector Hound" by Tom Stoppard the best out of the books we studied. Other than that I like crime fiction when it's blended with other genres mostly I think. Like in this subject The Lovely Bones was considered subversive crime fiction, because you wouldn't actually think of it as crime fiction because of all the conventions it breaks and how it blends cf with other genres.

I kind of grew up with Agatha Christie books since my mum has them all and they are so great. Yeah, there´s crime in many other genres. The lovely bones was great and I like an inspector calls.

just earlier i watched a one hour documentary type movie about the murder of emmett till. it's for extra credit for my ethnic studies class. it's a horrible story (by that i mean sad and i can't believe people could ever think that was okay) and it made me angry at the stupid people who did it.
