Do you have a preferred book format? (ie. hardcover, paperback, mass produced paperback, audio, etc)
This is definitely a weird question. Im just asking out of curiosity.
I prefer paperbacks. I would rather wait for the paperback version to come out before buying a book. I do own hardcovers, usually ones i find on the discount racks at bookstores but i will not buy a book in hardcover at full price if i can get it in a paperback. Mass produced paperbacks are my second choice. They feel cheap which is a slight turnoff but they are easy to take with me wherever i go and they fit nicely in my hands while reading. On top of hardcovers, i also try to avoid movie tie-ins. I would rather see the original cover than the actors who play in the movie version of the book. However, if there is a deal or money is an issue i will pick them up (they are usually a lot cheaper than the original) Is anyone else THIS picky when it comes to books? Most people would say that it doesn't matter which format it comes in, the story is the same! ...but it matters to me. lol. I must be weird.

I only buy hardback books if it is by an author I REALLY like or if it is a book I absolutely love and would like it in a more durable package. Mostly I stick to paperback because of cost issues. I feel the same way as you about movie version covers. I don't really like them and would usually prefer the original. I also don't like if there is the sticker with a book club (like Oprah's) on it. I have only owned one audiobook and have only gotten through half of it. It is called Rant by Chuck Palahniuk and it is really long. I just don't have the opportunity to ever listen to it.

I prefer hardcovers because they hold up longer. My paperbacks get pretty beat up in my school bags and purses at work and because of that, I try to buy in Hardcover. The way I see it is, I'm buying this book for use down the road or for someone else to get something out of it. If I just wanted to read it one time, I'd borrow it. And after many re-reads the paperbacks just don't hold up. However I do have a lot of paperbacks because I buy the Barnes and Noble editions of classic books and some of them aren't available in hardcover. I agree about the stickers on books, if it'll come off, I rip that thing off right away. Movie tie ins.... I usually will have bought the book before the movie was made so I don't have that problem really. My Bridget Jones books have movie covers but I also bought those for like 4 bucks. The only book I have that has a movie tie in is Atonement and it's because I liked the colors on the cover better than the black and white original.

basically all my books are paperback unless it's definitely in hardback (like Harry Potter series or Series of Unfortunate Events series). They're generally a lot cheaper. I also don't like the books with the movie cover on it.

Most of my books are paperback, it's more comfortable sometimes. I think paperback can be annoying though, when I read smaller books I prefer hardback - it also lasts longer. I think hardback books which are large (Anna Karenina for example) are hell to carry. That's why I only read it at home, lol.

I also prefer paperbacks, its much easier to carry them around and I like books to look used. I usually only buy hardcovers when the edition looks amazing or cheaper.

I have no particular reason for buying a certain type of book, but it's usually paperbacks.... They're cheaper and they're lighter... But usually, for English books, paperbacks are more common, so they're easier to get, thats usually why I buy them...

I don't buy books very often, I usually go to library. When I buy books, I buy paperbacks becouse they're cheaper and they took less space on my shelf. I don't like read-new hardcover books, paperbacks are nicer.

I like trade paperbacks the most, and then paperbacks. I find hardcovers a bit hard to handle and often too expensive so I'll only buy them if they're on sale or if it's a book I really want to read right away (i.e. Harry Potter ). The other problem with hardcovers is that they take up a lot of room and I already have four bookshelves filled to the brim!

i'm usually too excited to find the books i want available so i buy them anyway even if it's not the format, cover or even sometimes the publisher i want. i prefer paperback though, it's easier to carry around or read in bed. i really hate omnibuses. combining 2 or 3 books together just makes the whole book too big to handle. but i end up buying them sometimes too cos it's cheaper that way or because the books are not available seperately at the present.

In Estonia usually we don't have paperbacks (only children's books), all good books are hardcovers. Only paperback's I have, are ordered from US. I love books and it doesn't make any difference to me if it's paperback or hardcover.
