I just finished this book and I was sobbing for probably about half an hour at the end! Anyone else think it is truly a remarkable novel??

I read it and I loved it. I was the same way - sobbing for quite some time afterwards.

Of all of Jodi Picoult's books this way my first and by far favorite book! I loved the ending it was very unexpected for me at least. And her writing wrenched my heart out because we were able to get the story from all perspectives: the mother's, the girl's, and the lawyers,

Yep add me to the list of people who cried hysterically after reading it. Definately deserves a place next to Perfect Match and Salem Falls as one of my favorite Picoult novels . I didn't like Vasnishing Acts though

I got My Sister's Keeper for Christmas last year and I still haven't gotten around to it. I should really move it up my TBR pile a bit

So lostgirl, you liked Salem Falls? I was thinking of reading it. I did hear from many people that they didn't like Vanishing Acts though - I haven't read it, but it's odd because isn't that supposed to be her second-most acclaimed book?

I liked Salem Falls a lot. I know a lot of people didn't but I thought that it did some intersting things with the whole idea of "witch hunts". I thought using a rape trial as a basis for a modern "Crucible" was interesting because it's such a "he said she said" scenerio and in that emotions run so high. I know some people who liked Vanishing Acts but I couldn't get into it. At one point it seemed like the whole story veered into an absurd direction and never really got back on track for me. I recently read Nineteen Minutes which I highly recommend to her fans- it's one of those books that's going to evoke a reaction one way or another. It's structured really interestngly. We see the aftermath of the 19 minutes in question and we see everything that happened in the 17 years prior, up until that span of time. When we finally learn what happened during the 19 minutes and why, for me it was an anti-climax- it was shocking, but perhaps the point was that if the end result was the same maybe it doesn't matter that much. I don't want to spoil anything though

I've only read The Pact, Nineteen Minutes, My Sister's Keeper and Perfect Match, and they've all been outstanding. She doesn't seem that popular compared to other authors, does she? I haven't heard much about her.

She's very popular in the US. Her books are best sellers and often become made for TV movies.
