I got this to my mom some time ago, but I decided I want to have it as well, so yesterday I bought What I loved by Siri Hustvedt

Not fictional but over the past few days I've bought: A Rough Guide to Japan (ebay/second hand) A Japanese phrase book Lonely Planet's Tokyo Encounter (pocket sized)
There's another one I might get from ebay called Let's Go Japan which is a bit more recent than the Rough Guide one I got and is supposed to have more info on cheaper things to do, like restaurants etc, rather than big budget places.
I leave in 6 weeks, so excited! Btw brand new big sized guide books are so expensive! I'm glad I found the big ones I want on ebay.

Japan sounds amazing, I hope you have a great time! And guidebooks really are expensive but the England lonely planet was so worth it. It´s written well and really funny.
I bought two Janosch books used, can´t believe someone gave them away!

Lucky! I love Ronja the robber's daughter, and me and some friends have actually planned to watch the movie this weekend So, so far the day's been good which I think I deserve because last day was all about break-ups and suicides... Sounds like an awful day, I hope Ronja cheered you up a bit!

My friend lives in Tokyo and he's told some amazing stories and showed some great pictures (and we plan to visit some time next year!), so I'm sure you'll have a great time Dominique! So about books... I bought two books today: We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver and Sula by Toni Morrison.

I just got "Les hirondelles de Kaboul" by Yasmina Khadra, which is the first book in the trilogy (I had to get it now that I've already bought "L'attentat", which is the second book).

So the biggest Norwegian book club is still having this campaign where they give you books for 1000NOK (about 170 dollars?) if you sign on to one of their sub-bookclubs, which is no stress because all the offers come in the same newsletter anyway. So I might have signed on to some new ones, and for that I got: Reading Like a Writer - Francine Prose (two of them) The Bielski Brothers - Peter Duffy I'm with the Band - Pamela Des Barres Stiff: Curious Lives of Human Cadavers - Mary Roach The Metamorphosis - Kafka Anna Karenina The Jungle - Upton Sinclair Slaughterhouse 5 - Kurt Vonnegut The Entire Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants series - Ann Brashares The Razor's Edge - William Somerset Maugham The Sound and the Fury - Faulkner Rescuing Patty Hearst - Virginia Holman Howl - Allen Ginsberg The Tenant of Wildfell Hall - Ann Bronte and I also got a DVD for my nephew! I'm a big bookclub fan these days...
