Why can´t people take care of books, especially if they don´t even belong to them!?
There was a used books sale in uni yesterday and I bought "letters home", "colossus" and "complete plays by christopher marlowe".

Why can´t people take care of books, especially if they don´t even belong to them!? ...no idea. It's so inconsiderate. Today I went to Strand again. I left with: -The Paris Review Book of Heartbreak, Madness, Sex, Love, Betrayal, Outsiders, Intoxication, War, Whimsy, Horrors, God, Death, Dinner, Baseball, Travels, The Art of Writing and Everything Else in the World Since 1954 -Deadeye Dick by Kurt Vonnegut -Happy Birthday, Wanda Jane by Kurt Vonnegut -Winnie the Pooh (I LOVE A.A. Milne) My books-to-read pile is getting extraordinarily clogged, so tonight I made a new plan. I must read 20 books before I'm allowed to buy another book. I have well over 20 that need reading, but this will make a dent. We'll see how that goes. I have a book buying problem.

I have a book buying problem too, but atleast I have them. I won't have a problem finding them when I do get around to reading them. Books are good investments. Money can be spent on worst things.

Who doesn´t have that problem? ;D . I bought "just like heaven" too! The movie was cute so I´m curious if I´ll like the book. Haven´t bought a book in two days!

Last night I bought "Wide Sargasso Sea" by Jean Rhys. I've always been fascinated by the mad woman in the attic in Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre and this book is basically the story of that woman.

my mom just told me about "Wide Sargasso Sea" yesterday!
I'm reading Jane Eyre now for the first time, and absolutely loving it. I can't believe it took me this long to read.
Please let us know how WSS whenever you're done, I'd love to know how it is. (my Mom hadn't read it, she just knew about it and suggested it when I told her I was reading Jane Eyre)

Oh Zelda, I love the Strand! Went there when I stayed in NYC 3 years ago. It's just a pity I couldn't even fit another sheet of paper into my suitcase or I'd gone havoc in that shop! I have the same problem as you, I just compiled my reading list and there are close to 30 books in German, English and French I have already bought and haven't had time to look into!!! *nirg* It's just so much fun reading the amazon reviews and selecting new stuff that I keep ordering anyway. My last book order contained: Gaston Leroux: Le Mystere de la chambre jaune Terry Pratchett: Wintersmith Goscinny (the guy who wrote the texts for Asterix and Obelix when they were still funny): Le Petit Nicolas Catch 22 Rainer Maria Rilke Selected Poems (German)

I'm glad you didn't miss Strand. It can be sort of under the radar as far as "must see/visit" NYC places, but it's definitely a must for any book lover! I also recommend Rizzoli bookstore while visiting Manhattan. It's very charming, has the feel of a classic, cozy bookstore. Very narrow and long, and three stories tall. (Pictures of it here: www.rizzoliusa.com/bookstore.html)

I haven't seen the movie, and I think I'd rather read the book first so I guess it'll be a while before I watch the movie. I'm not even sure what the book is about actually, I just heard you guys talk about it and figured I'd pick it up!
