I agree with Demirel, the movie was pretty good, but having read the play many times before seeing the movie I was a bit disappointed. I think the play is less goofy, and way more funny!

I have the movie now, but I haven't seen it yet. Think I'll finish reading the play before watching it.

I loved Earnest! Amazing play by far one of my faves. I had to read it for a calss last year for Drama Lit. My teacher is completely into threatre and film and stuff and I have loved her as a teacher so it was an amazing class. We also read William's The Glass Menagerie whcih was very good and lead to me reading Streetcar named Desire later during the school year just for fun. Amazing and my fave by far for Williams. The movie is amazing as well.

I saw a representation of it once... It was set up by a theater group of Argentinians that came to Uruguay, and it was supposed to be in English... They had HORRIBLE accents. And every single character was played by a woman! lol.

LOL, was that a port-modern take on Elizabethan theatre when all parts were played by men?!!

LOL, I guess so. But the worst part is that some of them had painted facial hair, kinda like Groucho Marx, that was hilarious!! For some strange reason the most attractive actresses played men, and the least appealing ones played women...lol

haha that'd be interesting. i go to an all girls school and we have a theatre production each year and so its all girls. its pretty interesting to see them with just girls. romeo and juliet will never be the same in my eyes.
