I was just wondering if anyone read any books on the Vietnam war. I'm interested in finding a good book about life during the war.

I've read "The things they carried" by Tim O'Brien. It's not so much about the fighting, it's more about the way each of the soldiers experiences the war. Usually I'm not very much into books about war, but this one was quite good.

The only book I've read about the Vietnam War was We Were Soldiers Once...and Young by Harold G. Moore and Joseph Galloway. It's nonfiction and is actually a laid out description of the battle at Ia Drang. Even with all the military jargon and the length, for some reason I still enjoyed it. Haven't quite figured out why yet. But what you're asking seems more like just life during the war rather than actual military tactics and weapons used. If you wanted some of the latter, this is a good book.
