I've been reading the Series of Unfortunate Events (I was given the Box Set for my birthday). Has anyone else read them? Although they're technically children's literature, I really like them a lot. I think Lemony Snicket is a brilliant linguist. His writing is so witty and clever - the way he plays with words and statements and culture is fascinating.
Anyone have any thoughts or opinions?

i haven't read them but i always look at them in the bookstore. i could never decide if they'd be good or not. plus they seem really expensive for such small books so i never wanted to dish out the money for them. are they written more for children? language wise and such?

They are very cleverly written - check out the "Unauthorised Autobiography"... hehehe! think about it.... but (just to me) the style and stucture gets a bit repetitive after a while. Still, the whole thing is a very original and enjoyable idea, and i thought the film was a very good adaptation of the first three novels.

I´m a fan I love the characters ! I have one box and other books I bought cheap because they supposedly have deficiencies, haven´t found anything wrong with them though. The language isn´t too simple, it´s not annoying and I like that words are sometimes explained because I didn´t know some of them. And I also loved the movie
