I'm reading Poems by Emily Dickinson, I've never been a huge fan of poetry and so I'm pretty surprised of enjoying this book so much. I read Dickinson's biography before starting to read her poems and I was surprised by her freethinking in spite of her decision to live in virtual seclusion. She seems to be very modern. I also like how she managed to condense a lot images in the words she used. I don't like her poems translated into italian, my english teacher was absolutely right: the translation spoils the sound of poetry. I won't read a translated poem again!
What do everyone think about Emily Dickinson?

She's definitely one of my favorite poets, I have The Complete Poems of Emily Dickinson which I read from time to time.

I love Emily Dickinson. I love how she writes, even though she was a recluse.

I think a good deal of her genius was innate and always there, but the emotions she felt that lead her to live a life alone were the catalyst to let it all out in the way that she did. It's an awful thing to be grateful for but I love her writings, and her style - i just wish that she had perhaps been able to find complete happiness AND write such things!

I also really like her work. I found it a little hard to get into though, because of the changes in language from her time to ours.

I've actually had a lot of trouble figuring out Emily Dickinson's poetry, which is a little odd, because I love poetry so much. I don't know, it's just been tough to get anything out of her stuff.
