Does anyone else use ebay to buy books (or other items) like I do? I find it's a really good alternative to the expensive prices of book stores and the small selection of second hand book stores. In the last two weeks I've bought "Angela's Ashes" by Frank McCourt and "Bound Feet and Western Dress" by Pang-Mei Chang off ebay for very reasonable prices.

I can't use ebay, I'm not old enough unfortunately. And I can't ask my mom, she works at the library and she doesn't like it when I buy books, she thinks it's a waste of money. But holding a book that is completely yours can feel so good too... I just discovered a rather cheap belgian website that sells books, and it turns out I can buy there being my age! So I'm happy about that. I haven't bought anything yet though. I still love the atmosphere in a classic bookshop, but I get a bit of the same feeling in the library near my house, where my mom works.

If you decide you do want to use it, I don't know if there's an age limit but you can actually register without ever using a credit card. You just have to have an authorised email address (like a school, university or work email) and then you pay using direct bank deposits There probably is an age limit though I'm not sure. Borrowing books from the library is great but mine doesn't have a very good selection of books I want But if your's does thats great!

I think the system in belgium is different somehow. I tried to subscribe once, and they asked my birthdate and said I wasn't old enough. Besides, I didn't find any of the books I was looking for on the ebay belgium website, and it gets expensive if you have to ship objects. Oh well!

That's no good. The shipping here with whatever the price it goes for works out about as much as I'd pay for a book in a second hand book store here. If I hunt around I can generally get something good for about $7.00 here including postage, which is heaps cheap considering books here are about $25 new!

I'd like to buy books online, expecially books in english because they aren't easy to find in bookstores here and, if you manage to find them, they're more expensive than books printed in Italy. I've just started having a look on ebay, do you think is a good way to buy books?

I don´t use ebay too often because usually some other bidder "steals" my stuff at the last second when I was already looking forward to having new stuff. I like amazon new or used books. When I have enough money I buy a new book but mostly I buy books used at the library sale which really saves money. So I don´t have the latest books but I´ll live.

I like books buying online. Although I just encountered an annoying problem with Amazon!! I bought my books on Jan. 23rd and I still haven't received them!! It said that they would have the books shipped to me by Feb. 2nd and i haven't heard anything yet. I keep going to the Track and Confirm and apparently they're in Illinois!! But they haven't changed anything since Jan. 26th. I am getting so frustrated. Has this ever happened to anyone?? What did you do??

Hooray!! My books are in. I had ordered Portable Dorothy and Sylvia Plath I finally got myself but it looks like someone beat the box with a stick. The box came in half-pened and badly ripped. The inside plastice was also opened but all the books i ordered are in. It might be because the books were really heavy. Oh well, alas i may rejoice!!

I think amazon doesn't ship in italy but we have ebay too. I'd like to buy some english books online and I'm getting practiced with ebay, I'm trying to understand if things are really cheaper there.
